I agree. However, I think Biollante in general was what made the plot very wacky. Think about it, Biollante is not scientifically accurate. The soul does not reside in the DNA, adding the DNA of something that is ALREADY DEAD does NOT bring it back to life, and Biollante in general doesn't even show traits of its human characteristics.

"In general?"
I never observed a single human characteristic in Biollante.
She was all either Rosie Fly Trap or Arbor Day Croc with tentacles.

Okay, first of all looking for scientific accuracy in this movie series is pretty quixotic. Secondly, I don't think the screen writer really cared. This series isn't about what's realistic, so much as it's about what the creators thought would be a neat idea. And, like I said, that Erica's qualities are more or less subdued until the end makes it easier to ignore for the better part of the movie.

Scientifically accurate? You're looking for scientific accuracy in a series of films about a 300 ft. dinosaur that breaths thermonuclear energy? LOL

Yes. I never saw it, but I know for a fact that there are better Heisei films. I also think Biollante looks absurd.

Says who? What makes you think you know so much about how the soul works?

Re: Biollante. Stupid concept!
If DNA carried the soul, identical twins would be the same person.

Re: Biollante. Stupid concept!
Not neccessarily. Twins ultimately become two individuals, both of them with a mind of their own, so they can both have a soul of their own too.
Again, what makes you think that you can say with any degree of certainly how the soul is supposed to work? How do you figure something like that out if we are incablable of studying it to my knowledge?

Re: Biollante. Stupid concept!
The soul is the person, not the meat suit we call the body.
Identical twins have identical DNA. If the soul resided in the DNA, any identical twin would have the same soul as their twin. The same holds true for clones.
If we were to clone Hitler, the chances are very low that he would be anything like the one who ruled Germany. He would likely have similar physical problems/abilities, but he would have been raised completely differently, leading him to different beliefs and such.

Re: Biollante. Stupid concept!
But, again, twins are distinct individuals. They both have minds of their own, and I think their own unique fingerprints. If thay can have those things they can have their own souls as well.
And, again, since nobody that I'm aware of has the ability to actually study the soul, how can anyone say what it's limitations are? How can anyone say "the soul has to do this" or "the soul can't function like this"? What makes you think that you have any idea at all how a soul is supposed to behave?
Besides, this is fiction we're talking about. In fiction things can work out any way you choose.

Except in Mormonism, where the body is regarded as part of a person's soul in addition to the spirit (and spirits are closer to what you are talking about).
I imagine the Godzillaverse would run on Shinto metaphysics, which likely do not take DNA into the equation.
