The memorable moments continue...

Rodan's Roost: Fan Nest - *Not too long after the 2nd Desumacchi wrapped up I got the idea for a Rodan's Roost spin-off site. *This site would concentrate on all fan created materials and activities, leaving The Roost to handle all official information in the world of kaiju.

Planning had already been completed and I started in on graphics/code design on the project, which I hoped to have launched by Fall 2003, when the problems started...

The Era of Low Resources - *Around September 2003 The Roost finally started hitting the limits its hosting company had set. *Add this to the still ever faster growing Forum, and disaster was in the making.

Not only did the lack of storage on the server pretty much take away the ability to update with any regularity, but periodic Forum outages became a common thing. *Each time I would have to delete a little content from the site to get it running again. *The Halloween section even had to be scrapped for 2003 due to the space limits, and plans for the Fan Nest which had been put on hold looked like it wouldn't happen at all. *Then it all finally came to a head:

Crash 2.0: November 2003 - *The Roost was out of storage space. *Combine that with a bug in the host's Stat tracking program, which would make it create ever larger and larger files without deleting the old ones first, and you get the reasons for the November 2003 crash.

It was a bleak time in The Roost's history. *One that almost spelled end to the site altogether. *I admit that I almost walked away from it all, tired of dealing with the ever growing problems.

But I rolled up my sleeves in mid-december, and got back to work on the site, trying to revive it and the Forum yet one more time. *The site was back up and running by late December once more...

That's all for now, more memorable moments coming at you soon...
