<font color='#0000FF'>Why does Mothra always sleep? Whenever her poeple or Japan need her help, she spends two thrids of the film sleeping on a rock while her people dance and sing to wake her up. And why on earth does it take her so long to up? It seems that if she is not fighting other kaiju, she is sleeping. What's up with that?

<font color='#0000FF'>It could possibly be that she's tired out from having all those babies...or the little people on her island drug her. That doesn't seem right.
The real reason behind is probably that since she's a moth like butterflies they rest and get their energy from warmth from the sun (if memory serves ).

<font color='#0000FF'>What do you mean. In Mothra (61) she was still unhatched. In Godzilla vs. Mothra she was weak and dying, but never a sleep. In Ghidorah the Larva seemed lively. In Eibrah, she did sleep. In DAM, she was never asleep. Which movies are you watching

She isn't always sleeping. As everyone else has said it only happened in Godzilla vs the sea monster. The rest of the films she was already awake for most of the film. I think it might be because she needs to rest to heal her powers or something...

<font color='#FF7F00'>All the aboves were right. She was only sleeping in Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. However, I think the point Gojira2000 is trying to make is that Mothra just sits around for most of the movies, and then suddenly appears to fight monsters or save people with a big basket.

<font color='#0000FF'>Well what else is she suppossed to do? In GvsM she was dying, and to be moving would have wasted energy. And in Ghidorah the Larva was taken in the glory of being worshiped.

Yes that's what I'm trying to say.
I konw she she doesn't always sleep in all the movies, but she doesn't do much else, either. It almost seems like that's part of what Mothra is. Godzilla's always sleeping under the water and then acttacks a city or fights a kaiju. Mothra sits all day and at then after a few weeks of being worshiped, she flies off and saves the day from itself.
Ah! New Topic Question! Why Godzilla always sleep?! It seems he disappears for a few years, waeks up, goes and feeds on a reactor, battles a kaiju or two, destroys the JSDF, and goes back into the ocean and back to sleep, after which to whole thing is repeated. Why?

<font color='#0000FF'>Yeah, but Mothra seems awfully inactive, even compared to to other Kaiju... The only one that's lazier is King Seesar (who's a favorite of mine, so it should be obvious I'm not taking this too seriously.

I guess she was sort of inactive because her people didn't need her just yet, well actually I change my point of view, the Shobijin would've sent Mothra to save her "servants" immediately.

Mothra was near death in MOTHRA VERSUS GODZILLA, and was young and weak in GHIDORAH. The only question is what was she doing in GODZILLA VERSUS THE SEA MONSTER. It normally dosen't take that long to wake her up.
Perhaps Red Bamboo did something to her that made it harder for her to wake up.

<font color='#348781'>Well what do you expect Kaiju to do in between movies. We dont see the dull times of Japan when the monsters dont attack and everything is peaceful. Maybe it is a short time before mothra defends earth so shes trying to get as much sleep as she can. Thats what i do every school day try to get as much rest as i can before i have to go to school. Mothra and other kaiju and just relaxing as long as they can before they have to go to work.

Did you bother to think maybe Mothra's sole purpose is to protect the world/worshipers/Japan/humans(depending on the film)? When said thing to be guarded isn't threatened, she rests to keep her strength. When she's nearing death, she lays an egg to pass on the bloodline and guardianship.

Well, heres another idea. Maybe Mothra is, like many moths, nocturnal. She's always sleeping in the day and reluctant to wake up because she's used to being active during the night rather than the day. It'd be like if some tiny people ran up to you at midnight and started singing songs about you waking up. This also might explain why Mothra apeared so active in GMK...
but of course, it leaves the obvious problem of her appearance in G vs Ebirah and *probably* G vs MG vs M. (I havn't seen it)

Now that is an interesting thing to bring up. I have to wonder why Mothra let her Infant Islanders get taken at all. She must have been in a coma or something to do nothing during all the commotion that doubtless would have occurred when the islanders were being taken forcibly from their home.
I find it hard to believe that Red Bamboo could drug her that fast.
