CSI and the Spin-Offs
So are there any CSI fans here besides me?
And if so, which one is your favorite?
Vegas?
Miami?
New York?

Re: CSI and the Spin-Offs
I love the show (though I don't watch it as much as I like). I haven't been able to catch any of New York yet, though I hope to soon.
It is a great show. I can't really pick between Miami and Vegas, though I do tend to lean toward Vegas.
When does New York come on?

Re: CSI and the Spin-Offs
I love the original CSI and have Seasons 1-4 on DVD, it's really an incredible show, though CSI's really don't do what they do in the shows, they are simply lab people.
I have watched some of CSI Miami, but I don't really care for it as much as the original. I haven't had a chance to catch CSI NY yet, but I don't think it will surpass the original either.

Re: CSI and the Spin-Offs
I find Miami to "Upbeat" from the setting,so I prefer NY and the original because there have darker atmosphere.

I think that is what made QUINCY, M.E. such a hit. The "techies" got OUT of the lab and took a more active role in what would normally be just an old "cops and robbers" type theme.
"Detective" stories are a staple of entertainment, going way back to "pulp fiction" days and you can even pick up these type magazines to this day. You have to admit, these shows are a lot more challenging to follow than a sit-com and many give a very good picture of what all is involved in solving crimes.
Is showing all these "tricks of the trade" giving criminals ideas? I don't think so after a local came through a fast food drive up and tried to pass a counterfeit twenty, stolen credit card users get their pictures taken at ATMs and wonder what the cops are doing on their doorstep, etc. IMO, the sooner the MYTH about "the perfect crime" gets debunked, the better and shows like this are well on their way to getting the word out.

So do I. We watch them quite often.
Hey, last nights CSI had an old High School friend of mine on it! Brent Briscoe played the bomb-loving dad. He and I graduated the same year. We werent the BEST of friends, but we were friendly.
It was a blast!

Re: CSI and the Spin-Offs
I love CSI, in my opinion it's one of the best shows to have come out in recent years. I mean, TV right now is in a dismal state. As for the show itself, I absolutely love Vegas, but I can't say the same for Miami. I just think the latter is too bright and sunny [ not to mention the location seems like a pretty bad choice, at least to me ] and can never approach the brilliance of the original. I haven't watched a single episode of New York, so I'm not one to judge at the moment.
Peace,
Melkor

Re: CSI and the Spin-Offs
I prefer CSI and it's spin-offs over, say, the million and one reality shows being release nowadays. I hope this stupid trend ends soon.

Re: CSI and the Spin-Offs
My niece is studying to be a CSI, and thanks to her watching the shows on TV and DVD she has inadvertently gotten me watching it as well. It is truly amazing the kind of detective work that can be used to solve crimes nowadays, it is practically impossible to cover up a crime no matter how meticulous someone tries to be with the kind of technology that exists now. The only show that me and her watch though is the original series.

Back when reality TV ruled the roost CSI was one of the few shows that still hung on to some decent ratings and would be regularly seen in the Nielson top 10 on a weekly basis.
