I want to get these DVDs sometime. There's no way I'm missing out on 13 un-cut, subtitled episodes of Ultraman Tiga.

Well, this is sort of off topic on the DVD, but I HAVE just got a bunch of Ultraman things:

1993 Ultraman Comic Series
1993 Ultraman 1-3 mini series
1996 Ultraman Toy ($5.00)

As for the Tiga DVD's, I always see it with the Starter Kit. $31 dollars is too expensive, so I might as well just buy the stand alone disk.

I just got this a few days ago and am now anxiously awaiting the release of Volume 2 on the 17th!

The quality of the video and sound for all of the episodes and extras is tremendous!!! *And the quality of the stories, characters, etc., are equally as great! *

The T-shirt is great, but the box could definitely be better. &nbsp;(It's flimsier than the ADV Gamera box!!!&#33

All in all, a spectacular DVD release of a spectacular show!!!!!

<font color='#8D38C9'>I picked that set up a few weeks ago and have made it through the episodes.I and my cousin both came to the conclusion that new cheez is not the same as old cheez.

The effects seemed better than the old stuff but too Power Rangers.I know that they started all this madness and should be given a little leeway in that respect but it wasn't as good as I remembered it.

I of course will be buying set 2 when it comes out.Hopefully it will have a cool shirt to go with it as well.Perhaps of a monster as they are the reason that I get it to begin with.

I thought this would be a easy topic to start off this board, all thanks to Sauron for setting it up for us. Since most have seen the horrible dub.(sorry guys, it is pretty bad) &nbsp;

Well, it seems that this may be the Ultraman show to get people more involved in the giants of light. I've had to the pleasure of seeing the original Japanese version several years ago and was impressed by the change that had been done to Ultraman. Hard for a fan of Ultraman to see his favorite giant hero change from purple and silver to red, purple and silver to his classic red and silver. But it was a decent change, and at least they held on to the classic look of the red and silver.

I wasn't overly impressed with the Kaiju, I'd seen better, but some were the best I'd seen in an Ultraman show. Gatanozora has to be one of the most remarkable final kaiju to grace Ultraman fandom besides Z-ton.

Not, my favorite Ultraman, but one that I would hold high within the fandom.

So, what are everyone else thoughts on this show?

I have the first volume of Funimation's Tiga DVD set and already have the second one preordered.

This is a great series, with just the right balance of seriousness and &quot;not-so-seriousness&quot;. &nbsp;Tiga is a spectacular looking Ultra, and his being the first Ultra capable of changing into different types is greatly respectable. &nbsp; The kaiju battles are excellent, as are the kaiju themselves.

GUTS is a great team, and work well together. &nbsp; They play well off of eachother's given personalities and this gives the show a very dramatic tone at times.

I can't wait to see the last 3/4ths of the series!!

&quot;Ultraman Tiga &amp; Ultraman Dyna&quot; is a fantastic Ultraman film from 1998. &nbsp;Set in the Ultraman Dyna series/universe, it focuses on Asuka's (Dyna's human form) struggle with &quot;not giving up&quot;. &nbsp; The special effects are outstanding (especially the INSANELY AWESOME scene in which Prometheus transforms into the massively powerful Death Facer), and the human drama is right on.

The story revolves around a new uber-powerful battleship, Prometheus, created to kill kaiju. &nbsp; But, aliens called Monera-seijin take it over to kill Dyna. &nbsp; They transorm Prometheus into the awesome, chain-gun toting robot Death Facer, and defeat Dyna.

Soon, the Monera-seijin attempt an attack on Japan with Death Facer, but this time Dyna defeats it, only to be confronted and ultimately killed by Queen Monera, the culmination of the Monera aliens. &nbsp; However, Ultraman Tiga is remanifested thanks to the Light of the people who remember him. &nbsp; He resurrects Dyna, and the two face off against Queen Monera.

I love this film. &nbsp; The Tiga/Dyna tag team fight is awesome! &nbsp; If you haven't seen this, do yourself a favor and get Image Entertainment's excellent release of the film on DVD!!

In Ultraman Tiga &amp; Ultraman Dyna: Warriors of the Star of Light, I thought that how they tacked Ultraman Tiga on was pretty low, they could have had a better way for him to return. Other than that, I had no problems with this film, a lot of action (A whole Island being destroyed with one shot, very impressive) fights, and everything that is Ultraman.

Death Facer was a great foe, and his transformation sequence is so complex that I was blown away when I first saw it. Probably the best thing that came from the movie.

Also, this type of team up, reminded me of Super Sentai, since they place their recent and past heroes together to fight against a common foe.

Well, I was a little disappointed by seeing Tiga appear near the end--these were my thoughts before seeing the movie, since I read about what would happen.

But luckily Dyna was enough.

Death Facer truly was a kickass opponent. As Biohazard mentioned, the transformation was just amazing. I also got a kick out of the chain laser gun.

Queen Monera was also well...huge. Alone, one Ultraman would fail. But Tiga and Dyna were enough to take her down. Still, her fireballs put Gamera's to shame.

I enjoyed this movie. Sure it had flaws, but the appeal of this movie rubbed me in a good way.

Mentioned my feelings about this unique series in another topic.

But I really enjoy it. I've watched my &quot;Ultraman Tiga: Volume 1&quot; DVD dozens of times and never really get bored. The action is gnarly and even if the special effects wouldn't seem that impressive--well--what do you expect?! I just enjoy the battles, characters and the message.

Wait, Ultraman Tiga can't be larger than life, since he is smaller compared to others like: Great, Powered, Dyna, Zearth, Neos, Scott, Beth, Chuck, Jonias, Ultraman King, which all range above 53 meters.

Heh, believe what you want to. But you missed the basic principle... Tiga is larger than any Ultraman, souly for its spirit! While he isn't as large physically, he's larger mentally.

So bwah! &nbsp;

I am sorry to say, that I am not overly fond of the Heisei Ultraman series. The special effects are horrible. I would much rather see an aircraft hung by strings rather then a crappy CGI one.

But, I do admit, Tiga does have some good monsters in it. Personally, I like the Cosmos series a lot more.

I finally spotted a Tiga TV DVD set in a store (say that three times fast). Unfortunately it was volume 2 and, well, other things were tugging at my wallet. Good show, though.

Um, just to inform you all, Vol. 3 of the "Ultraman Tiga" disks is ahead of schedule, and are at Best Buy stores NOW for $27.99. Pretty tight cover. Now, I only have one disk left to go!

This is my personal favorite of the Heisei Ultraman shows, though I agree with biohazard in that the monsters could have been better. Well, except for Gatanozoa, who was the pinnacle of creativity in the series [ if only Monster X looked like that... ] . I also liked Sukuna-oni, which, as the name suggests, is an oni-type Kaiju complete with sword. And that one Kaiju whose name escapes me that existed in a theater-realm of sorts. Ingenious. Going back, I thought the series had a near-perfect combination of seriousness and fun, although it can get a bit too cheesy at times. And the fact that it deviates from the previously established M-78 Ultramen is a nice change of pace, too.

Peace,

Melkor

Did anyone else get "Volume 3" yet? I've only watched Disc 1, but thus far I'm really impressed. The series just keeps improving in terms of storyline, special effects and effort from everyone! The battles are just as or more cool.

I'm really looking forward to the 4th and final volume. When I have that in my grasp, I'll marble at all four DVD's and cry with happiness!

Mine is coming tommorow via Amazon.com!! I can't wait!!

In the meantime, what are the extras like? The extras on volume 2 were a little lacking compared to volume 1, what with the fewer monster bios, and that corny music video and all...
