Default Goodbye, ROOST FIGHTER...

Roost Fighters,

I am sorry that I have taken so long to make a decision in regards to Roost Fighter's fate. However, with some of the current things taking up my time (blog, Doom, birthday, etc.), I wasn't able to decide very quickly.

However, it has become apparent that I simply do not have the discipline or will to continue the Roost Fighter saga. Therefore, it pains me to announce that I am closing down all Roost Fighter operations as of tomorrow. What this means is that I am cancelling the story series, cancelling Tournament V: Doom Factor, and otherwise bringing RF to its sad ending.

It has been a pleasure to have worked on Roost Fighter for over three years, but the pressure to create something less restricting and more interesting (to me) has become great. I thank all of you who have supported my endeavour during this time.

But even as I start work on my dark fantasy novel, Perfect Hatred, I realize that Roost Fighter should continue, in some form or another. Therefore, RF's legacy will go on in the form of...

---

PARKERUS: KING OF THE NORTH
2013: The world has changed radically, with the coming of a mysterious entity called "Astaroth" that has destroyed nearly all of our major technologies: computers cease to function, vehicles fail to start, and the cities of Earth are plunged into darkness. With this, we have been forced to embrace the ways of our great ancestors - where guns and cars once ruled now stand axes and horses. Earth has become a modern myth, in a sense.

Enter Parkerus, "bard" and self-proclaimed "King of the North." When Astaroth destroyed all modern conveniences, he took up his mighty battle-axe "Valhalla" and ventured into the countryside on a quest to uncover the secret behind the entity's coming. Accompanied by his black stallion Konan and the beautiful girl Helena, Parkerus treks from the northern lands of Canada to the southernmost places of America and beyond, battling crazed humans and demons of unknown origin along the way. When he finds out what Astaroth is and what its intentions are, his - and mankind's - sense of reality will be shattered!

---

Parkerus: King of the North is the spiritual successor to Roost Fighter. Taking cues from Conan the Barbarian, He-Man, and Doom, among other things, this two-story series will carry over much of RF's fun spirit while allowing me to have more creative freedom in my writing. I will carry over many of Roost Fighter's finest characters into the series, albeit with differing forms and new names, but much of the original concept has been carried over into this new series.

Parkerus: King of the North is set to debut sometime in April 2006. Keep watching for more news as the weeks go by.

While I'm sad to see RF end, and would've liked to see Tournament V go through, I wholeheartedly support your decision. Roost Fighter was your creation, and if it is no longer to you what it once was, you are under no obligation to continue it.

Parkerus also seems very interesting, and I can't wait to see how the Roost Fighter characters are carried over to the new fic.

Its a sad thing to see such a great thing go. But this Parkerus shindig sounds interesting (He-Man and Doom combined together=genius). Wonder if PH will appear...

Roost Fighter. What a unique franchise and writing platform. There honestly isn't anything else like it. I'll miss all the action and wacky comedy that it brought, and I'm hoping to find those classic elements in the new Parkerus series.

This sounds amazing DE, I am certain we will all miss Roost Fighter, but this sounds like it might surpass it.

Just a word of warning: the Roost Fighter boards are due to be locked down in the next few days, but will otherwise still be accessible. A new Parkerus forum is currently being talked about, but it is up to the Administration to make it happen.
