So he wants a fence, huh?
We caught a little bit of the President's speech on TV, an I guess he's erious. The president wants to make a HUGE wall along the border of Mexico. Man o man. What are your guys' thoughts?

Didn't they try something like this in Berlin? >_>
And who let the President play "Risk" again?

This should have been done a long time ago.

Whats wrong with those volunteer vigilantes from Arizona that patrolled the border? They were patrolling the border FOR FREE but Bush went and asked them to stop it. I say reinstate that Gun-Toting Border Patrol Vigilante program, give 'em a license to kill, and people will line up for that method of giving back to the community...

I'm all for a wall, as long as its one of those invisible walls we get for pets. You know, the kind that give a shock to a collar. Then we tell the Mexican government to supply the collars. It'd be roughly as effective as this plan is now.

Re: So he wants a fence, huh?
A TRANSCRIPT of the President's address. I also came across THIS view on immigration. A proliferation of EAT MORE POSSUM bumper stickers appearing beyond the Southeast and Central states immediately comes to mind.
I would say it isn't so much about building fences as plugging the holes we have in our borders. Check the remarks in THIS report. Our IMMIGRATION topic covers a lot of aspects, especially the IMPACT of illegal aliens. Notice how states and even communities have been affected and we're not just talking Texas, Arizona and Califronia here. Criminal activity by just a DOZEN illegals can severely task the police force of a little town of 6,000 people. What started out with a stolen car battery ended up being a three-week MESS for them.
There are some things that the federal government needs to take charge of and immigration is one of them.
I think PH is referring to "taking back" our country, eh?

Well, if we can't catch Osama bin Laden we might as well catch some half-starved Mexicans, eh? When did this whole immigration thing blow up anyway? Gotta give Dubya credit. He sure knows how to divert and conquer...

If we can see it from space, I'll support it.

On the plus side, this is going to get alot of new jobs for us Southerners...
Probally all go to Mexicans though. Just because God loves irony.

How about 1956 when for the first time, service workers and white collar workers outnumbered blue collar workers in the U.S. economy? (from "Revolutionary Wealth" by Alvin and Heidi Toffler). That's what one pundit asserts. I'd say that May 1st no doubt fed a good deal of backlash ON THE NATIONAL LEVEL. As well, Congress has been dragging its feet on coming up with a plan for addressing all those illegals already here.
