Media Blasters 2006-2007 Release News

Media Blasters-- the company that brought Toho's ATRAGON, SPACE AMOEBA, VARAN, MATANGO and more to DVD-- has provided news, cover art, and DVD specs for their upcoming Tokyo Shock discs. There's some great stuff coming out so check out SciFi Japan for info on titles like ZEIRAM, MASKED RIDER THE FIRST, DEVILMAN, NEZULLA THE RAT MONSTER, TALES OF TERROR FROM TOKYO VOLUME 3, ZEBRAMAN, and ULTIMATE VERSUS.

Media Blasters has released "Zeiram 2" before, but although nice in its own right, its a letdown compared to the first film, which deserves to be a cult classic in the US. And now the company will be releasing the first film and this bit of news have really made my day. A wonder action-comedy with some of the coolest alien villains Japan has to offer. Although a terrifying brute, Zeiram is great because unlike most horror movie monsters he's intimidating, but filled with personality, thanks to its small true face, a very expressive, even disturbingly cute white woman's face, and the overall performance from suit actor Mizuho Yoshidam perfectly shown in the semi-comical scene where Zeiram gets annoyed with one of his lesser creations, a blob like 'gum man'.

I'm also really excited about "Kamen Rider the First" "Zebraman" and "Nezulla the Rat Monster", not to mention the mystery Toho films that have yet to be announce...joy!
