Strict drug policy?

To me that appears to be more lax than freaking baseball used to be.

Also here is this article.

As for if it was steriods or not, I guess we wait until the autopsy reports come in to be sure. But I definitly won't be surprised if steriods were involved.

WWE/McMahon didn't say ANYTHING about it not being steroids on the tribute show on Monday. McMahon talked about steroids not being an issue on the Sci-Fi channel on Tueday....ECW.

Once again, like somebody said earlier, you need to look up this before you start talking about it.

As for Steroids being part of it.... I don't know, but it was reported that they found 10 empty cans of beers in the trash AND a empty bottle of wine next to where Benoit hung himself.

Way to highlight guys that hadn't wrestled in anywhere from ten to thirty years.

Do you know what happened with RVD and Sabu about a year ago? They got busted by the cops for having pot in their car, and WWE took it upon themselves to fine them, suspend them indefinitely, and put them in low-card matches for quite some time as additional punishment. That was just pot, not even steroids.

And by the way, you know why Mysterio isn't wrestling anymore? Steroids.

I don't care if you hate the business, but show it some respect by knowing what you're spitting out.

Question Re: Chris Benoit?

Family problems? This is just a local TV station's blurb and not as in depth as other articles might be.
Same here regarding steroids. It states they were found in his home. As for medical uses (not ABUSES), I'm sure everyone is aware of how potent these things can be, even being used in cancer management.

Why should a shady business be shown respect?? lol

I agree w/ Raptor's post, it could have been family issues too, or many other things in the medical realm.

There isn't necessarily anything wrong with that. I wish my parents had done that with me, (even though medically I don't need it, since I'm only 2 inches under the average US male height). But it's used for that a lot to give a child a better life later on because they will be a normal height and not looked down upon. That may not have been Benoit's actual thoughts, he might have been thinking something more like "This will make him be a big man, cause small men are just weak," and if so, then that would be wrong, but using them on young children to make them taller later isn't wrong.
Only problem is it's like $10,000 per injection.

Yes, fits on uncontrolable rage are possible side affects of steroid abuse.

Like some proof on that.

Anyone who trusts anything on Wikipedia needs to have their head examined. The fact that this edit made people/investigators think that the wife was killed a while before the kid (as I understand it) is just sad.

Aren't these injections usuallly given by a DOCTOR, maybe a PEDIATRICIAN to be more precise? This isn't a Flintstones vitamin we're dealing with here...
It's been a while since I looked at the growth hormone thing but I believe there was something about this misguided idea about little ids and egos being "damaged" by schoolyard bullies. Now THAT is what needs to be addressed, not relying on yet another "pill" to make everything "better". I suggest we look into WHY the boy would be receiving these shots in the first place.
The boy also apparently had more serious things to be concerned about than his stature, namely his mental facilities.
As for the money angle, doesn't "rasslin'" pay rather well? Look into dealing with and managing retardation, which I wonder to what degree the Benoits did.
Quote:

Could the retardation have been a result of the father's use of steroids? Something to think about while we're at it, I would say... And then Benoit supposedly needed testosterone? Might as well look at his "doctor" while we're at it...
All in all, this looks to be a lot more convoluted than Paris Hilton doings...

This is true, as I said "he" was probably in the wrong in using them, I had heard nothing of whether or not they were using them under athority of a doctor or for legitament reasons, and as per what you said, it is obvious they were not. I was just saying there is nothing bad with using growth hormones in general if a child is undersized under doctor supervision.

It is also in the nature of all humans to look down upon the less fit, even if they do not know they are doing it. There is indeed slight prejudices in society against men of smaller stature, (not really women). No where near as bad as racial, religious, or sexual prejudices, but it is there. Not in school as you mention, either. That is not where the majority of undersized people being looked down on is, it is more in adult life, like when trying to get mates or jobs.

That is a very good point Raptor. Could have Benoit faked certain conditions in order to get the testosterone too?? To improve his preformance?

Looking at how big a lot of the wrestlers are, if someone is going to tell me they got that big naturally I would doubt it for as long as I live. Most wrestlers may feel they need to get unnaturally big just to contend for there job.

So does that mean blame still needs to be placed on the organization that condones it and openly punishes those who are caught, just because some are getting away with it?

Maybe, maybe not. The government got invovled with putting baseball in its place, perhaps they should give wrestlers something to think about too.

There seems to be more "illusion" and fantasy involved in pro wrestling than other sports, on top of everything. It's almost like a comic book, IMO.
Fans have bought into it and there are promoters out there to market it, no doubt putting pressure on wrestlers to "do their part". How long before the line gets blurred between this fantasy and reality, especially under the influence of steroids?
Frankly, I still cannot get over some of the FANS of this so-called "sport". THAT is what drives it, I think. Was there not a public outcry about our "national pastime" that possibly finally got the "gov'mint's" attention? Will the Benoit case do likewise for pro wrestling?

I couldn't have said it better myself. I hope that this case does get the governments attention, because it needs to stop.

You can actually tell from time to time which guys have made a habit of steroids and those that either got their size by working out or simply are not that huge.

When Eddie came back from a hiatus, you could clearly see he had done something. There was a significant increase in his muscle, and the one vein on his right arm was coming close to bulging out out of the skin. Scott Steiner's another guy who most definitely get not get his muscle naturally.

Then look at guys like Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin and a lot of the young high flyers such as C.M. Punk, Brian Kendrick and Paul London. I've met Haas and Benjamin in person (awesome guys), and let me tell you, they were big. But, it wasn't excessive, I've seen plenty of other athletes their size. The other trio I mentioned are simply not very large at all, same with even Chris Jericho.

Because if you knew anything about it, you'd know how much strength, endurance and fortitude it takes to go out there every night lifting 200+ pound guys over your head, being slammed on your back against the mat, being slapped across the chest by a man's foreman while he's running at full speed etc. over and over again.

I pray you guys aren't basing your opinions on wrestling simply through the WWE, because that'd be just hilarious.

Except most of them don't do steroids, at least, not anymore.

Back in the Hogan days it was like candy, and the company didn't care. Over the last few years they've cracked down significantly, in fact Orton and Mysterio got in trouble a few months back. Mysterio's gone now and Orton was suspended indefinitely and fined.
