Marine Kong

According to Sentai Sanctorum, "Marine Kong, a somewhat cute-looking giant creature with robotic insides, was the protagonist of the first tokusatsu TV series to feature a new giant monster in each episode." I was trying to look for info on this show since it sounds intreging, but I have not found anything. Is it possible it's known under a more popular name or something? Thanks.

Somebody asked about this one and I' here to answer it. Marine Kong as a Japanese TV series, probably made around the late 50s or 1960 and is one of the few live action kid shows in the genre to focus on pure giant monster elements and not throw a super hero in the mix. (Other such shows include P-Production's Monster Prince, the TV mini-series Atomic Dragon Agon, the 1965 Ultraman prequel Ultra Q and to a major extent, 2007s Ultra Galaxy: Daikaiju Battle). The series revolves around the murders / rampages/ misadventures of a giant robotic dragon and the various human villains who control it. As well as the people who try to stop it. Marine Kong itself is said to look like a kaiju that Sid and Marty Kroff would have designed, but like Gogola, I have yet to see a picture of the show's leading star. Ironically, as obscure as this 26 or so episode long series is, it must have been somewhat successful when first aired, because a sequel series Return of Marine Kong was made not to long afterwards. No Idea if by then, Marine Kong changed his evil ways and became a good guy or any other robot monsters have appeared within either two programs.

I used to watch Marine Kong in the late fifties/early 60s when I lived in Japan as a kid. It was like a mechanical godzilla/gorgo kind of thing with a control room in it's head. If I remember correctly there was a scientist type with some kids who ran the thing. I've been trying to find pics and articles but so far no luck.

why was he called Marine Kong??? Anyone know???

Because the image that first came to my mind was something like a cheap King Kong knock-off... not this. XD

So I'm curious as to why he was named that.
