Bush, you're *walking* back to Texas
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2...?section=world
Right. Someone pop the Champenge, Bush is quite possibly the single most useless president to have ever been elected(the second time) and now, his "Defining moment" in history is a big lie that almost no one believed in the first place.
Thank you President Bush, for a ruined Social Security system, gas prices $3.00+ a gallon, and most of all, your language-raping speeches. We salute you.

True, but I doubt he minds very much, considering where HIS money comes from.

Okay, everyone who knows anything about the middle east knew this from the get go. It's pretty obvious there was no real reason to go into Iraq.
Social Security is screwed anyways when the baby boomers start retiring

Re: Bush, you're *walking* back to Texas
Yet, in the end...even though he is not the smartest man in the world...even though he got us into two wars in less then three years....even though he helped to bring gas prices up high...even though he was USELESS and did nothing good....
He *STILL* wins.
We elected him twice.
We pay his bills with gas money.
And we can't do a damn thing about it.
Bush wins.

It didn't help that our choices in the last election sucked all around.

Re: Bush, you're *walking* back to Texas
You have to hand it to the Democrats for trotting out canidates as miserable and pathetic as their crop has been. When Bush is the lesser of two bad choices, that is saying how piss poor the choices are. Hell, I'd probably take that scumbag over any of the three contenders this time out.

Oh do you mean the same kind of lies that the previous president fed us for 8 years straight almost, you know... to throw off attention from his own ****-ups? That ol' Saddam was neck-deep in Weapons of Mass Destruction and itching to smoke our asses at any given moment?
I mean, for ****'s sake people... there was a genuine ****in' reason we all were so behind this action, going to Iraq to put Saddam in a hurt locker... and it wasn't invented the moment George W. Bush stepped into office.
We had been conditioned by Bubba to believe it.
So... no Strangelove... we all believed it in the first place.

Well I can gladly say I'd rather have any of the candidates now than Bush again....But watching the stuff on Obama and Clinton is getting rather irritating.

Genuine reason? They couldn't surmise one shred of undebatable evidence that there were even WMDs. Saddam was never going to try anything against us, he knew any war with us was futile. We went over there, we found nothing! I'm sorry, but this excuse had holes in it to begin with and I am more than willing to accept the "Liberating their oppressed peoples" story than him having WMDs that were ready to be launched at the US or even Israel. Even though he had no methods of launching them anywhere beyond his borders or even a sufficient air force to get beyond Western Europe. Face it, Saddam was small potatoes, a straw man that was kindled for the purposes of propaganda. Was he a man that needed to be brought down? Yes, but so did Pol Pot, Stalin, and any other dictator, yet the reasons given to take him out were deceitful and flat out wrong and it cost more casualties to human life than needed to bring him down.

See, thats what concerns me.
The record of WMDs in Iraq is too clean. We know Saddam was working on them at some point, you'd think at the very least somebody would've dug up more evidence of the stuff we already knew about (pre-9/11 stuff).

No no no no no no.... No.
I wasn't conjecturing on the location of the WMD's. Don't try to swerve what I said Herr Doktor.
I'm saying... that the reason why just about EVERYONE readily jumped onto this bandwagon of "Saddam's got these weapons" is because of the 8 years of conditioning we were put through by Bubba's administration.
Thus the idea of Saddam having these weapons didn't sound like complete bunk to people. Because we were constantly told that Saddam had such weapons, or the means to get ahold of them. Bubba was doing it, the news media was echoing those sentiments, and so on and so forth.
So what I was mainly saying was... your statement, that "Nobody believed it in the first place" was complete horse hockey. Saddam had become an almost "Boogeyman" of the Middle East long before anything remotely close to a concept of invading had begun.
So don't tell me nobody believed this before going in. Ok?
Thank you... and good day.

Re: Bush, you're *walking* back to Texas
One teeny, tiny question about WMDs.....
Saddam knew he had nothing to lose when the 2003 war was going on, right? So why didn't he use those WMDs? After all, he would have been destroyed anyhow, so what stopped him?

Yes, becuse everybody knows that Bush is to blame for every problem facing the world, including male-pattern baldness, the cancellation of Gilmore Girls, and the constant delays of Haze.

Re: Bush, you're *walking* back to Texas
I'm not a staunch Bush supporter, but the guy gets blasted for things that should place blame on more than just him.
Social Secutity? Gas prices? You're kidding, right?
Social Security was already tanking, and was doing so a long time ago. Gas prices are always on the rise. Pfft on all that absolute trash.
As for Iraq, don't strictly place the blame on Bush. He still had to have permission from the House and Senate. If you're going to criticize Bush, make sure you do so and include all people who share the same blame.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Resolution
The above link is mostly food for thought.
And yeah, I'm not very happy about our choices for the next president. Bah humbug, and it's not even Christmas yet.

Yeah, Social Security's fate was sealed after the Baby Boom generation ended and Generation X provided a lower birthrate. On top of that, people are living longer, meaning they'll be drawing on Social Security longer.

What is really sapping Social Security IMO is many of the so-called "disability" determinations, especially regarding kids who get "crazy checks" because their parents don't have a clue about raising them proper. The VA uses a PERCENTAGE determination. I believe with SS, it's an "all or none" deal; just find something that's covered and pass a determination. One in seven Americans receives a Social Security benefit. In 1940, slightly more than 222,000 people received monthly Social Security benefits. Today, over 44 million people receive such benefits. - SSA website.
