This is just too damned cool!! I'm the biggest kaiju fan on earth and I love turtles so this is right up my alley!! Yeah apparently "Gamera"s not the only giant turtle with a trilogy. I don't know how this flew under our radars for so long. This "giant snapping turtle" isn't exactly 'gigantic', but rather over-sized and bigger than a normal snapping turtle's dimensions a la the new take on the giant leeches. However; the poster and production art, as well as the theme, story, and how the creature is portrayed in the film definitely captures the essence of a giant monster film. It's a trilogy of micro[no] budgeted short films plus a documentary about a giant killer snapping turtle from 'Southerncrology Productions'; "SNAPPER: THE BEAST OF ULANAWA LAKE"[12 min.]: http://www.technobohemia.net/videos/snapper/snapper.htm Here's an image of the poster : http://www.technobohemia.net/videos/...mages/snap.jpg and :"SNAPPER REVENGE"[18 min.]: http://www.technobohemia.net/videos/...perrevenge.htm and the documentary; "SNAPPER IN THE RAW". Plus the still upcoming "SNAPPER PROGENY" and possibly; "SON OF SNAPPER". There's an official website for each film, a forum, a blog: http://snapperfilm.blogspot.com/ a comic book and official DVD. Be sure to check out the shop for mugs, t-shirts, posters, bibs etc.. The story;
"THE ORIGIN OF SNAPPER

Nestled in the hills of Tennessee is Ulanawa Lake. Local legends claim it is home to a vicious, possibly mutated, giant turtle known only as SNAPPER. For years, Ulanawa Lake has been the scene of countless mysterious deaths and disappearances. Though authorities remain baffled, the locals blame Snapper.

We are proud to announce the release of the first 'film' to pay homage to the Beast of Ulanawa Lake

Loosely based on the Ulawana Lake legend, SNAPPER is a new low in independent film! No budget, no talent, and one mean turtle puppet take on the art of guerilla film making.

Shot on a mini VHS camcorder in a mere three hour period, SNAPPER was undertaken with no script and a total cost of less than five dollars. The result was an amusing short feature that takes nothing seriously.

Though there was never any intention of marketing SNAPPER, all who saw the footage requested copies. Sadly, the tapes languished for three years in the custody of their creator. During this time, they went through several primitive VCR to VCR editing attempts and were viewed by several people. All who experienced SNAPPER had a positive response to the stupidity the friends had wrought.

Due to that popular demand…

THE SNAPPER DVD WAS BORN

The DVD contains the creator's final edits SNAPPER and SNAPPER REVENGE. It also includes a special bonus feature, SNAPPER IN THE RAW, consisting of the complete and unedited footage shot for SNAPPER. "

Apparently the first two were filmed in 2001 and released in 2004 while we still await the third in the series.

Hey...I just realized why I got this funny feeling of deja' vu while looking at the poster artwork for "Snapper": http://images.cafepress.com/nocache/...x350_Front.jpg and the banner: http://logo.cafepress.com/nocache/5/629315.jpg It's face really resembles "Monster X's': http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/m/monsterx.jpg and: http://www.giantmonstermovies.com/im...onster-x-m.jpg Huh??
