Re: 01. Godzilla (Heisei) vs. Rainbow Mothra
...Mm. First instinct is to give it to Goji.
He's got the endurance.
How well could Mothra take his beams? Repeatedly?

I'm gonna wait for the others to weigh in on this before I give an opinion. This is one beamy helluva slobberknocker, I'll say that much.

Re: 01. Godzilla (Heisei) vs. Rainbow Mothra
I love Goji, and certainly he can win. He's taken ruthless beams before, but I think we tend to forget that Godzilla's regen can be overcome. Mothra and Battra did it, even if only temporarily. I'd say THIS Mothra has enough firepower to come close to doing it. The longer the battle goes, the stronger Godzilla gets.
Winner: Well, not Yokohama.

Re: 01. Godzilla (Heisei) vs. Rainbow Mothra
I'm going with Godzilla entirely. Only because Rainbow Mothra, while he has a ton of weapons, none of them really seem to have much ooomph. I may be wrong, it's been a while since I watched any of the ROM movies, but I don't recall any making any big explosions or doing much that Godzilla hasn't waded through before.
On the other hand, Godzilla is a beast. He'll tail Mothra's beams like no other. God forbid Rainbow if she tries to get close...

Re: 01. Godzilla (Heisei) vs. Rainbow Mothra
Mothra Leo's energy attacks were hot enough to evaporate large bodies of water just to bring Dagahra to the surface. They also packed a punch, creating massive tidal waves and steam when they found their target.
And yet Dagahra was clearly more bothered by Rainbow Mothra's energy attacks. I'd say Rainbow Mothra's energy attacks are stronger than his previous level's.
Godzilla is a tank. Combined with his durability, Godzilla's regeneration makes him extremely hard to put down. SpaceGodzilla, Mothra and Battra, Super MechaGodzilla--none of their energy bombardments could visibly wound him him. (Super MechaGodzilla had to target his second brain to put him down.) These are a testament to the amount of punishment this Godzilla can and has endured.
But this is different. He's facing a foe who not only likes to spam beams, but one who likes to do it more than anyone he's ever fought. And as we've seen firsthand, enough firepower can incapacitate Godzilla (see Mothra and Battra's alliance) if not kill him outright. I firmly believe Super MechaGodzilla killed him through a combination of beam spamming and destroying his second brain.
Of course, this happened only because Godzilla's offensive abilities had been neutralized.
Which brings me to Rainbow Mothra's barrier. It was used only against Dagahra. We never saw him use it against King Ghidorah or his previous form, Cretaceous Ghidorah. It looked like a temporary ability, one that manifested because of Mothra's transformation. It could have been the Nilai Kinai Temple at work too. Although there is a chance King Ghidorah's attacks were simply too powerful to deflect. Nevertheless, I doubt it'd play a role in this fight. Good news for Godzilla, since he'll be scoring some hits now.
Mothra isn't frail by any means. He's withstood dozens upon dozens of energy attacks. So he's not going to be burned to a crisp the moment Godzilla's radioactive flames find him. And if Godzilla got his claws on him? This Mothra had tangled with Death Ghidorah and Dagahra. Nothing proves he's any less stronger than his previous Leo form. So Godzilla isn't exactly going to overpower him. He is, however, the stronger of the two. Mothra is better off keeping his distance. If Godzilla's claws can't rip him apart, his nuclear pulse will blow Mothra away.
This Mothra also has the means of paralyzing its foes with his pollen. I have reason to believe Heisei Mothra did the same to Godzilla, which helped her and Battra prevail in their fight. So it'll play a crucial role here. And this Mothra could shed his paralysis pollen while carrying Cretaceous Ghidorah to a nearby volcano. So there's no way he's going to 'run out'. Godzilla's atomic pulse is his best bet to avoid paralysis, otherwise he'll become a sitting duck.
The biggest problem Mothra faces? This Godzilla is like the Hulk. The longer he fights, the stronger he becomes. So Mothra better win this in the first 10 minutes or he's going to be fighting a losing battle. Because eventually Godzilla's power level will rise to the point of where he'll start busting out the Spiral Blast.
So is Godzilla strong enough to continue fighting?
Is Rainbow Mothra strong enough to continue fighting?
That's what it comes down to. It's a race to whoever can overwhelm the other first with their attacks. And while that is debatable, I don't think many will disagree that Godzilla has superior attrition, considering he's fought longer battles against powerful foes.
And with that said, I'm leaning towards Godzilla. Since he's shown the capacity to stay in the game long enough to achieve victory, I believe he'll do the same here.
Winner: Godzilla
Loser: Mothra
Poor Yokohama. It'll no doubt become a masterpiece of rubble.

Re: 01. Godzilla (Heisei) vs. Rainbow Mothra
I'm giving this one to Godzilla. Mothra does have some serious firepower, but Godzilla is durable enough to withstand his attacks, and dish out some beam spamming of his own. I don't think Mothra will be able to take Goji down before he kills her.

1. I'll have more time to properly go over this is tomorrow evening so I sincerely apologize if the following seems dickish due to it's abruptness.
2. SMG's assault DID cause visible wounds and is the only heat beam in the era to leave a visible burn mark on Goji. I'll get this picture up tomorrow in the obvious thread.
3. The brain only paralyzed him, making him an easier target. It's quite obvious that the beam assault is what killed him (and the Fried Fire Turkey) and I'm surprised you seem to be underestimating his firepower Tom.
4. If it hadn't been for Goji's pulse reversing the shock ancors in the first battle then the significantly weaker version would've easily killed him... and no SMG's upgrade aren't just a new backpack if you were curious. (spoiler)
4. I don't really disagree with most of you're analysis, but I kinda felt the urge to call you out on those little claims that could harm my future posts and I don't want to have to play UBER catch up.

After paralyzing him, Super MechaGodzilla's energy attacks never inflicted visible damage. If they did please provide screen captures.
And I don't see why you think I'm selling SMG's weapons short for stating such. Visible damage or not, SMG's attacks were still strong enough to kill Godzilla. So I clearly don't think they're weak. Quite the opposite in fact.

Re: 01. Godzilla (Heisei) vs. Rainbow Mothra
Tom, while your arguments hold water here, I think that Mothra's attacks would be easily enough to wipe out Heisei Godzilla. Super Mecha-Godzilla's blasts killed him, and MOGUERA's lasers knocked him out. Rainbow Mothra, in my honest opinion, has better weaponry than both of them. I do not see it unreasonable for Mothra's Chest Cannon and million other beams to knock Heisei Godzilla out of the fight before the fight goes on too long. I am still bstaining for now, but I have a Slight Lean towards Rainbow Mothra at the moment.

Re: 01. Godzilla (Heisei) vs. Rainbow Mothra
I'm torn. Godzilla's regen is a HUGE advantage, but Mothra's beams are far more numerous than most kaiju he has fought.
I'm honestly on the same page as Orga. Mothra has so many weapons and can fly, plus she can take beams. Godzilla struggles against flying foes, and Mothra can literally beam him from any position without much worry of missing. However, should Mothra get close, that would be a bad, bad idea.
Slight lean towards the stupid Moth, but man is the city gonna get blown to bits.

Maybe next year the battlefield should start with lowered cover.

Re: 01. Godzilla (Heisei) vs. Rainbow Mothra
hell of a battle and great points brought up. Goji is a beast and can take alot as well as dish alot. Rainbow mothra is a beast in her own right and can bast the hell out of anything. but as judgement is thrown down she sucks up close and Even though Goji is not that much better but his regen will get him through this plus that beam will hurt Mothra in the end.

Re: 01. Godzilla (Heisei) vs. Rainbow Mothra
I *REALLY* see this going for Godzilla the more I think about it. Why? Because, as it's known, Godzilla gets stronger as the fight goes on. And this will EASILY last as long as SpaceGodzilla, if not longer.
That means the spiral beam *WILL* come into play.
When it does... Rainbow Mothra is doomed. He has NEVER faced any type of attack that can compare to it.

And, again, I see Mothra's weaponry better than both MOGUERA and SMG's weaponry. Heisei Godzilla has shown to be knocked out by those weapons from MOG and get decimated by SMG's. Mothra's is going to do so faster. It is not out of teh realm of possibility that Rainbow Mothra can knock Heisei Godzilla out of the fight well before the Spiral Beam should be taken into account.

I'll admit, it has been a REAL while since I watched the ROM movies. But I don't remember Leo's primary weapons being all that much greater than the Godzilla kaiju's. Maybe a bit more sparks, and that's about it.
And considering how SpaceGodzilla's beam stabs into the flesh and then explodes, I'd say that's a lot more lethal than anything Leo has to offer.

Re: 01. Godzilla (Heisei) vs. Rainbow Mothra
i think goji has this. he could probably dish out more than RM can take and can take more than RM can dish out due to crazy regen. this would be a great fight if it were in a movie.

I rewatched ROM 1 not too long ago, and the weaponry and attacks used on Death Ghidorah was insane. Especially the sheer amount used. And Leo is much weaker than Rainbow. I think Tom posted examples of the beam powers in his post actually.

Not coming down in numerous numbers like Mothra's attacks are going to do though.

Here's my late response:
Keep in mind, Godzilla had already been in an exhausting fight in both of those encounters. When MOGUERA's energy attacks knocked him out? Godzilla had been fighting SpaceGodzilla. So while MOGUERA's attacks are lethal, I wouldn't say they could knock Godzilla out if he started out at full health. They still do pack a punch though. And the same goes for Super MechaGodzilla. I'd imagine the combination of exploding his second brain, fight exhaustion, and an energy onslaught is what ultimately killed Godzilla.
Mothra's energy attacks are lethal, yes. The firepower he unloaded on Death Ghidorah and Dagahra? It's easily enough to cripple most kaiju. But Godzilla was brought down by equal attacks only because he had been critically injured by methods Mothra can't replicate or because he had been engaging a very powerful foe and was too exhausted to prepare himself.

Heisei Godzilla was in no fight before his showdown with MG. While I agree with you on what killed Goji, I see Mothra doing worse than MG could rather easily. Especially much faster. As for MOG and SG, while it is true he was fighting SG for a bit before hand, I find it a bad cop-out in this case since Mothra can easily overwhelm most kaiju with her beam weapons.

And I cannot agree with you and here is why. This Mothra has a million different beams that she never stops shooting. Ever. Heisei Godzilla is going to be pelted over and over again by beams that are all insanely powerful. Especially the Chest Cannon. Once that beam is used, heisei Goji is going down and going down hard.... only to continue to be blasted.
The ONLY reason this fight is close is because Heisei Godzilla has incredible endurance and regeneration. Because of that he can possibly overcome the beam onslaught and use his own beams. I just do not see it coming into play like that as often for Godzilla as it does Mothra. And considering this Mothra can take beam weaponry rather well, especially weaponry from Heisei Godzilla which is not on par with GKG, I do have to favor Mothra.
