Now, in Hindu mythology, the god Vishnu has maybe ten or so "Avatars." One of these was a giant turtle called Kurma, who held a mountain on his back in his debut myth. Now, perhaps fanatical Hindus see Gamera as Kurma. Gamera's saving Earth from Gyaos and Legion, perhaps viewed as demons, would only reinforce this belief. Perhaps they believe that soon Vishnu will come as Kalki and bring the Hindu apocalypse. They decide to speed up the process... Maybe the cult would have members in the Hindu government... they could provide an interesting foe for KNIFE.

Inventive, I like. Goes along with the idea that certain Kaiju have inspired mythological figures quite nicely.
