Re: Any one here know Martial Arts?
Been doing Shaolin Kungfu for fourteen years.
I'd say try all the styles out, and see what best suits your needs.

Re: Martial arts
Bring it Pear boy. I (literally) eat Pears for breakfast LOL! God this is fun.
I also have trained in some Hopkido (sp?) and in Nunchucks (not sure what the actually martial art of that is called though). But my favorite thing to do it probably Kumdo (swords). I have a few practice swords and a decorative Katana at home. Soon I hope to buy a Masamune.... that will be interesting. If you dont know what a Masamune is, it's a HUGE sword (nearly 6 feet long) used long ago by Samuri who rode on horse back to mow down the front lines as they charged past them. Also it is probably more recognised as the sword used by Sephiroth in Final Fantasy 7 (see my sig.).

Awright. Time for my modern Arnis pitch.
Do you fight dirty?
Is your idea of a "clean" victory one where you aren't covered in gore?
When you see a guy throwing head-level kicks, do you laugh and prepare to maul him?
If so, then modern Arnis is for you.
A Filipino style closely related to Kali and Escrima, Arnis teaches the joys of bashing things with sticks. Or swords. Knives. Golf clubs. Baseball bats. Sjamboks. Anything you can pick up and swing, Arnis applies to.
Since it's built to supplement what you already know, I highly recommend Arnis to experienced martial artists of any stripe. I came in through Hapkido and Brazilian Jujitsu, and took to Arnis like a fish to water. So did my buddy who started with Kung Fu. So did another compadre who practiced capoeira.
Most importantly: it's fun.

Re: Any one here know Martial Arts?
Aha. I'm almost a black belt in Songham Taekwondo (currently a Red Belt, but it doesn't really make any difference when your usual sparring buddy is a 2nd degree), and have trained in ground fighting, street fighting, kick boxing, and practiced a form of fighting thats similar to the Arnis that Cole mentions, only much more clean and less brutal. So yeah, I'm a tough cookie even if I'm the smallest person in class at 5'5".

Re: Martial arts
I've got a brown belt in BJJ (been training about six years) and I've been doing Muay Thai for about four years now.

Re: Martial arts
Lets see, I have past experience in, Karate, TKD, BJJ, Wrestling, my friend taught me some, taijutsu, and ninjutsu, and now I am involved in a southern form of Shaolin Kung Fu called Hung Gar.
I have some fighting stories, that happened while I was back in Germany, but yeah.
Thanks to Hung Gar training, I can do pushups like Bruce Lee, with my index finger and thumb, or my middle finger and thumb. I also beat my arms on trees....yeah
Its fun though, if anyone can find a Hung Gar school, I would advise to take and learn there.
