Default Metal Gear Solid

I was surprised not to see a thread about the series, so I think I'll make one.

Has anybody played Metal Gear Solid 1 or 2? I haven't played 1, but I'm in the process of beating 2. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty is pretty good, and has to be my favorite PS2 game.

My favorite thing about these two recent MG titles has to be the fact that you have to be stealthy about 90% of the time. A concept that has spawned quite a few rip-offs lately... including the Lupin III game!

I haven't played MGS 1 yet... but MGS2 was fun... but I couldn't get that far cause I had no idea where to go and took it back to the rental store.

.... I feel asleep.

I have played and beaten both games. I really liked the first one more mainly because it had better characters and better story. Mgs2 had the good first person view and the better graphics. Theyre really not that hard especially since i beat them both. But i love the awesome characters and enemies the most.

They released MGS 1 on GameCube. It's the same storyline with some features from MGS 2 and a First Person Shooter Mode that you can switch to.

I never really played Metal Gear Solid, I just played the demo a couple of times. I might rent/get the "new" one they released on the GameCube though, to try it out.

I thought it was just MGS 1 with added features. So you are saying that it is the two games mixed together (such as their storylines)?

Yep, pretty sure. My friend from online who is a Metal Gear freak (He recommended the series to me) said that The Twin Snakes is the first two games combine.

He also gave me this story:

The creator of the game's friend didn't have Playstation or Playstation 2, so the creator developed a game with both games combine for the friend's system- which was a Gamecube.

Huh, that's pretty cool. Have you seen the first person mode? Video game magazines that reveiwed it said that you didn't even need to move to beat the first boss, all you do is stand and fire off shots in first person. Hopefully, it doesn't make the game that easy.

I hate to disagree but i am really sure twin snakes is just an updated Mgs1. I also read that for a revision of a game it wasnt too well. That sure it hard the first person mode like in Mgs2 but it didnt have enough new features. I personally have never played twin snakes but the review i read said it wasnt that good of an update.

I found this here:

http://silverc.proboards24.com/index...311763&start=0

FULL NAME: Project 01
CODENAME/ NICKNAME: Metal Gear
AGE: 25
GENDER: male
POWER (IF ANY): Powers? What powers?
WEAKNESS: Metal Gear can only stay in combat for 12 hours at a time. After that it takes him a day or two to recover. Also large amout of water can hurt him. ALSO is you sneeze it destroys his body and if you say a word that has more than 5 letters in it, he will be so confused his head will blow up. He also likes sexy Japanses girls and every time he sees one, he melts and dies forever. When somebody sings " Disco Duck" Metal Gear will try to act like a duck, killing our cyber genectic friend in an instant. Also don't eat apple pies around him, it makes him get sick and die. Sometimes his heart stops and his brain forgets everything making him mentally challenged. He's scared of the any color in the rainbow and he doesn't know how to breath. He has to sleep 24 hours a day or he'll get too tired and die. He's not allowed to touch doctors so no one can really help him. The sun burns him, and moon makes him turn into the dead body of a werewolf. If he loses one drop of blood he might as well say good bye. And he can't watch TV because it makes him die and so on and so on...

Is this what Metal Gear Solid is about?

^ Thats like a character made buy someone else at another forum. It sounds like something like roost fighter where you make a character. The picture on the link seems to be the character hes referring to. That pretty much has nothing to do with metal gear solid except the name.

I played all the Metal Gear Games starting from the Original PSX version. Twin Snakes is by far my favorite, though it did lose some seriousness from the PSX version, you can do more and see more than the last, and theres one change that im VERY fond of, thats the added scenres of the Ninja (Gray Fox), in Twin Snake he seems more lethal and scary.

Yeah I cant wait, I hope the enemies are smarter, I hope you get to stealth kill people with that knife instead of just breaking their necks, oh and I hope you get to use the shotguns. Have you seen a closeup of that knife thing is awesome.

Default The NEXT MGS

After the display on G4 of teasers for Metal Gear Solid 4 im pretty psyched after all i am the big fan here. The humores trailers wetted my appetite for more stealth espionage. I was dismayed to hear in earlier months that Hideo would be replaced by a legendary film director, but as the trailers clearly show hideo will be stepping up to the plate again. Hideo has opened his own company and there should be no restrictions on what he can do and with the next gen systems he has no restrictions on what he is capable of doing.
Comment as you will...

I cannot wait for MGS4, of course it's gonna be the one of the greatest games ever made with no doubt, i saw that trailer and laughed like hell. Probably the one reason I'll buy a PS3.

the next Metal Gear Solid 4pdate will be awesome, you shoold be excited, are you ready for this?

There is a trailer of MGS4 to be at the tokyo game show in 3 days (as of 8/15/05) there will probably be multiple sites to see it on scince G4 prolly wont cover it for a couple weeks, and plus it a true trailer not a teaser. Excellence is the presence of godliness. WOOT!
