Mothra Larvae

In gvs.Mothra 1964.  There were 2 larva, in ghidorah, there was only one.  Does any one have an explanatoin besides the fact the other one died.  I do.... but want to see if any one else can come up with something better.

I believe that one of the Mothra larvae went to battle Ghidorah and went eventually went on Monster Island, while the other grew up and turned into Mothra and the people in Godzilla vrs. Ebirah.

Do all Mothra eggs hatch 2 larvae?  If so, what happened to the others from all Mothra films?

No, it was only that one time that two came out.

But in the beginning of Ghidorah, the Cosmos said that the bigger one died.  I assume they meant one of the larvae.

The oddest thing is, in the Encyclopedia of Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992), there is a picture in there that show The Shobijin crying, with one larva at their side, and the other on its back and its "soul" coming out from it.

My thought on that, is during their fight with Godzilla, the one that bite his tail was so injured internal, from Godzilla beating against the ground several times, that it died most likely on the way back to Infant Island.

Most probably one of them died like the Shobijin said. Then the surviving one battled Ghidorah and didn`t participate in Monster Zero because it was going Imago. Then it slept through almost the whole Gvs.E and then battled Godzilla for two seconds. Remember y`all, DAM  occurs about thirty years after Gvs.E and thus the Mothra from Gvs.E probably died and laid an egg which would hatch and that larva would participate in DAM. But that doesn`t explain how the larva could be in Godzillas Revenge, but that movie is screwed up anywee so we can blame it on that. Theres my two cents, folks.

Godzilla's revenge takes place in a boys mind so maybe he liked the larva form more, or maybe he had only been exposed to the larva form when he was little so he had no recollection of the adult form

Oh yeah, I forgot it was in a dream! That sure explains the strange music and all the stock footage. Why he would like the larva form more is beyond me. Who would want to substitute a beautiful moth for a piece of poo?

Will you people please get this strat? They say The old on died you know. By that they mean the imago that fought godzilla.

They said that in the dubbed version. In the subtitled one, which I own, a boy asks if the Mothra`s are okay, both of them. Then the Shobijin answers with "One of them is unfortuately dead, but the other one is fine". I don`t know about you, but to me it sounds pretty clear that they meant the other larvae.

I have the subbed version (from Video Daikaiju, whom have emailed me back saying they are very close to the Japanese language.)

They right in the movie say that the old one died.

I like to think that the two merged into one (explaning why it had orange eyes in G:TTHM) then to think one died, that's just too sad.

I really agree with bargoth, he hit my thought on it right away

one went to ghidorah and the other to ebrah, but yet, it may have died.

One of the Mothra larva was going to become Gigamoth, but the idea was scrapped in favor of one of the larva dying.

The concept of Gigamoth was introduced in the late 90's, before Godzilla vs. Mothra: TBFE was made. Toho never thought up Gigamoth in the 60's.

Ummm, first, a monster dosent have to die for it to "return." KG had been driven off of earth by Godzilla & Co., and as the name of that movie would have implied, he would have been returning to earth to try wiping it out again. Its really not that difficult to understand. Also you have to remember that while DAM was filmed in the middle of the Showa series, it is the last movie of that series.

I heard that one larva later became the one in DAM, and the one that grew into an adult stayed on Infant Island...

I think that the Adult Mothra laid two eggs, both on Lechi Island. During some big storm there, one was carried off the island, and floated to Japan. That one contained two mothra larve, and the other one back on Lechi had one, which soon turned into the adult in Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster.

Um, Mothra lives on Infant ( or as it is called in GvsM dub) Mothra's Island.
