Re: Kitamura's films
Well VERSUS is available, but it completely and utterly sucks so dont waste your money on it. Find another one of his films if you can, but I'm not sure what else he's done thats available here.

Re: Kitamura's films
I believe the opposite about Versus, it's great.
However it's pretty much the only movie of his you can get over here. If you want to see some more and you have a gamecube he did the cinemas for Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes

Azumi is suppose to be real good. They call it Japan's answer to Kill Bill.

And here I thought you had good taste Phish.
I'm sorry but I don't know how anyone can find this a "great" movie. This is one of the worst pieces of film making that I have ever seen, and that covers everything from the story to the acting to the SPFX to the directing and so on. This litterly was the first DVD that I wanted to break in half after seeing this movie, and for $25 I was highly pissed off at how bad this film was. Sorry but there is simply nothing even remotely good in this movie in the slightest, even the "twist" was so stupid and easy to figure out it was simply mind blowing.
Some movies leave you stunned by how good they are, like "Grave of the Fireflies."
This movie left me stunned because of how God awefully bad it was.
If anyone want's to read more of my dislike for this movie they can find it in the Versus thread. I'll stop now because I need to take a deep breath and let my hate for this film subside.

Azumi is the best of Kitamura's films. But I wouldn't get it unless it had subs.

Much like Versus and Aragami, I really like this movie. I know that Ryo has seen it and likes it, wondering if anyone else has.

Re: Kitamura's "Alive", anyone else seen it
Actually, I found Alive to be Kitamura's worst movie. I've seen everyone of his movies (excluding GFW of course) and this is the only one that is long, drawn out, and quite frankly, very boring. The movie, IMO, is too slow in its pacing and the fighting at the climax does not make up for it.

^ I do find it lesser than Aragami and Versus, but I still think its pretty good.
