Could some one tell me how it ended? PM it to me if you have too. I'm just interrested in knowing if the movie kept the ending of the orginal...or not...

It was good, only movie i respect with tom cruise in it.
But nothing will ever rival the book, or any book for that matter.

All I have to say about this movie is: HOLY CRAP. This movie's excellent, one of the best I've seen. Pretty freaky also, I was jittering through the entire thing.

Re: War of the Worlds
The King Kong trailer will acopmmany... err.. acomppmany... no.... accompany (why can't I spell that word?) further screenings of War of the Worlds correct? Or is it just an exclusive thing for only the first day WOTW was released? I'd love to see that trailer on the big screen... and the audience reaction to it. I'm hoping to see this flick by the end of the week... I'm glad it's gotten good reviews. I have one question: is there a decent amount of military fighting action against the tripods? I wanna get the feel that I'm watching a kaiju eiga for a few seconds.

I hoped for the kaiju eiga feel as well and was slightly disapointed, mainly due to the lack of military vs. invasion. The resistance fighting tripod scenes almost appeared rushed as if trying to save money. Watch the film and you will know what i mean, or maybe you will disagree. But there definately could have been more.

Re: War of the Worlds
This is what I thought... The people I respect liked it, and our newspaper is crap like always. I swear, they hate pretty much EVERY movie. Our reviewer said that ID4 is a better movie than WotW. Screw them...
I hope to see this movie either today or tomorrow. To bask in the glow of King Kong and War of the Worlds on the same ticket.. worth the seven bucks.

It should be playing with it the whole time.

There isn't a lot of time spent on seeing the military fighting the aliens. This movie is more about the terror that the general population is going through and more specifically Tom Cruise's character and his family.
But you see plenty of the Alien War Machines to keep you happy. I wasn't expecting to see the approach that Speilberg took with this film, but he did a great job with it.

Well, it'll cost around $4,000. I'm better off finding a new car to buy (not a new new one).
But I hope to see the movie later on tonight. A lot of positive reviews and comments have made me even more excited. I've been looking forward to this movie for a while now; hearing the good reviews just adds more flavor.

Re: War of the Worlds
Alas, I must wait until next week to see the film, but my father has showed interest in seeing it as well and asked me if I would like to go with him. That in itself is rare. I immediatly said yes, as it is not often that I get to go see a movie with him. I can't wait!

I'm wondering where all the people went that were blasting this movie for the "numerous" reasons it would suck are now?

Meh, let em roast me. I don't care, IMO this is one of the most memorable film viewing experiences I have ever had in my life. I honestly went into this with mixed feelings, as I was not sure I would even like the film. And I am also not a fan of Cruise(for reasons that I will not go into here). But I was wrong on all counts! Cruise's performance(and everyone else's for that matter)were spectacular, as was everything else! Acting, effects, story, etc.! Two thumbs way up! This and KONG will probably be my favorite films this year!

Alright! I admit it! My premonitions were completely wrong!
Spielberg has pulled it off - he's truly done justice to the book with this film. It's funny... considering I had such a bad feeling about it it's turned out to be the best film I've seen this year so far.
It just goes to show - you can't fully judge something until you've seen the finished article, because often your expectations are shattered.

You know, you're getting my curiosity fired up. Maybe I'll get the Pendragon film just to see how bad it really is.
Hell, Spielberg ruined my chances to dump on his film. I NEED A BAD FILM TO DUMP ON!

Hah, my trunk monkey screams at me and throws poo to keep me from passing out.
Anyway if anyone is interesred here are the current numbers.
W of the W
BUDGET=$134 million
Weekend prediction by Box Office Mojo=$64 million.
Total as of Friday=$57 million!(Hah, take that Box office mojo! )
With two more days to go(three if you count the holiday) this could pull down double that!
EDIT= As of Sunday the estimate is $101 million! And with an extended holiday weekend it has a chance to do even more! WOO HOO!!

Re: War of the Worlds (NO SPOILERS, please!)
Also, to those either foolish or brave, an excellent way to improve your viewing of the new War of the Worlds is to watch the Pendragon version first. It helps add to the excellence of the film.

Re: War of the Worlds (NO SPOILERS, please!)
I just got done watching it! A very good one especially compared to the original classic. Alot more disturbing than the original though, but still very good. I cant stand Tom Cruise but he was very good in this movie in my eyes, The ships or "Tripods" are very cool designs, the aliens themselves are kind of lacking. None the less I give it 8 out of 10 stars.

Or you could read the book instead. A much better way to appreciate the story, IMO.

Re: War of the Worlds (NO SPOILERS, please!)
From the latest issue of Dreamwatch magazine.
Legendary science fiction writer Harlan Ellison has blasted Steven Spielberg's approach to adapting H.G. Wells classic tale.
She had this to say.....
"What annoys me is that Spielberg is such an egomaniac these days that it has to be Steven Spielberg's 'War of the Worlds'. No you puss bag. It's H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds, and it wouldn't kill you to put his ****ing name on it! We live in a society that values less and less the original."
Yikes.
