Now of course the original concept was something that was in the then unknown reaches of the oceans. Basically finding something that was a great spectacle to see, and trying to control it and failing.

Course there was an extinct species of gorilla that was about 10 - 15 (guessing purely, don't have the article at hand) feet tall, which may have been one of the inspirations for this...

-----------
But I'm talking on a purely movie based/ kaiju level... how did King Kong (and his son, and not to mention the female kong in KK Lives) get so damn tall?

If you ask me, I'd guess that after Kong died, that they just DRAGGED the body to some place in the ocean, forgot about it, then nuked it.

As we all know, Anne and Dwan were given to Kong by the people of the island as a sacrifice after they saw her to be naturally blonde (remember, they were putting blode wigs on the would be bride of Kong?). But this makes you ask. Whatever happened to the women given to Kong before that? Did Kong just eat them, give them back eventualy? I doubt that Kong would have gone through all that trouble just to have one little morsel. But them Peter Jackson's Kong is suggested to have eaten people.
 Does anyone know for sure?

I guess they weren't as alert as Dwan or Ann, so they were probably good meals for the Tyrannosaur.

theory. Kong could also have eaten them, which could explain why the villagers keep supplying Kong with women.
Or they tried doing the "mom-and-dad" thing .

Actually, I meant that they wouldn't be as in shock as Ann or Dwan (or whatever), so they wouldn't be as aware that they may be eaten alive, which give Ann and Dwan more "protection".
