In Honor of Godzilla 50th Anniversary
Godzilla's 50th anniversary is now two weeks away, on November 3rd, and I had a wacky idea for celebrating it. I propose that everyone write an essay. It can be any length you want to write and about anything to do with Godzilla, personal reminiscences about the first film you saw, funny true-life stories, what he has come to mean to you, how he has changed your life, how you view the world differently. Anything! Just a small celebration in words by his fans.
If you think this is a good idea, just post to this thread and share. I'm going to write an essay about the first movie I saw but it'll take me a day or two to sort out my thoughts.

Re: In Honor of Godzilla 50th Anniversary
Well I made up an interview with Godzilla about his 50th/retirement. Maybe I'll put that on here later.

Re: In Honor of Godzilla 50th Anniversary
For Goji's birthday, I will watch Godzilla: KOTM, play a while of Godzilla: DAMM, watch Ultraman Episode 10: The Mysterious Dinosaur Base, watch GMK, and watch the Godzilla vs. Megalon fight. Also, I will have an ice cream sunday, donuts, and popcorn.

This sounds like a great idea to me! I'll write one and post it on here later before Nov. 3rd, on which day I plan on watch G54. I'd have a Goji thon, but I just finsihed that a few months ago. I kind of doing a year long thing.

Re: In Honor of Godzilla 50th Anniversary
For me, well, his b-day is the day after the election. So I will still be in the political mood. But I will, hopefully have G:STE by then. I will play some of that, watch the first film, salute the Monster King himself, and pray to the creators and thank them for their wonderful gift that has given me a more definitive reason to live on and to celebrate his being on this green earth as a gift from the minds of Tomoyuki Tanaka, Ishiro Honda, Eiji Tsuburaya, and many others who were beind the scenes of the first film!
Godzilla is one of the greatest gifts we, as human beings, have ever been given. Godzilla, to me, is more than just a monster. He is a symbol of nuclear proliferation, a larger than life hero who withstood the odds against him and prevailed in the end, a misunderstood creation that deserves full understanding and full respect for what he stands for. I relate with character sometimes, as I think we all do, to some of the problems our giant saurian friend encounters in his many epic films. I feel for him and can relate to his pain and confusion and rage.
Godzilla, to me most importantly, is a larger than life hero whom I admire dearly. When the odds were heavily against him, he proved to his doubters and opponents that he can win and is truely The King of the Monsters.
Godzilla has changed my life forever, and for the better. Mr. Tanaka, I believe, would be pleased at how popular his creation is and that fans all across the world are screaming for more of the Big Guy. I only wish he and the others behind Godzilla's creation were here today to witness it. To Mr. Tanaka and the handful of others behind the original film, I cannot thank you enough for your gift of an icon, but more importantly, a hero. Your creation has spanned more films than any other character in the history of film, and that is quite an accomplishment! While many people, at least in this country, do not fully understand your creation, they know who he is. I thank you, once again, for your gift to the whole world and I just wish you were here to witness your "child's" 50th birthday.

Take it easy. You don't have to write an essay. It can be however long you want it to be. A sentence, a paragraph, whatever length you're comfortable writing. I thought it would be a neat way of saying thanks, that's all.
