Koji Hashioto died today
Koji Hashimoto, director of The Reutrn of Godzilla died today. Here's what MZ had to say about it:
"Koji Hashimoto, 68, died January 9th of cardiac disease at Ashikaga-shi hospital in Tochigi Japan. He had been an assistant diector for Toho on such films as King Kong vs Godzilla, Son of Godzilla and Monster Zero, and director on Saynora Jupiter and Godzilla 1984."
How sad. G84 is one of my favorite films. Check out MZ for more info.

Re: Koji Hashioto died today
What a coincidence that Mecha74 was asking some questions on that movie today as well!
It is a very sad day and, considering how long people can live nowadays, he died young. Not to mention a superb director! It has always boggled my mind as to why Toho didn't let him direct another Godzilla film. He brought back some of the horror the original film was embodied in; and made the second scary Godzilla film. Wish he had more opportunities .
It is a sad day indeed and my hat is off to Mr. Hashimoto.

Re: Koji Hashioto died today
Hats off.
The man directed what may be my favorite Godzilla flick since the original.
Sayonara, Hashimoto-san.

Re: Koji Hashioto died today
That is a shame indeed. I liked the style Godzilla 1984 was done in. It really is in a class of it's own and I agree with Kent, I'm surprised he never directed another Godzilla movie. May his family and friends be comforted in this time.

Re: Koji Hashioto died today
That's sad, he directed a phenominal movie. While not super high on my lists, I still liked it, and it's easily one of the best films. Frightening, entertaining, and greatly-made, just like the original.
Rest in Peace my friend, and may God allow you into his Heavenly Kingdom.
No way, sayonara, Hashimoto-Dono

Re: Koji Hashioto died today
The world has not just lost another director, but one of the best. He did magical work on "GODZILLA 1985" and his work on other films of the series was memorizing, we may not have Godzilla today if it wern't for his great work on the 1980's classic, witch is no doubt, one of the best films ever made.
May God be with his family and friends, but the world lost one of it's best directors, he will surely be missed.

Re: Koji Hashioto died today
Okay now I feel rather uncomfortable. I got the sudden urge to watch G84 just a couple of days ago and then posted a topic about it with some questions and called the thread "the death of Godzilla". This is very unsettling indeed for me especially.
What is there to say that hasn't already been said?
Indeed, Toho and the world has just lost a great and gifted man.

Re: Koji Hashioto died today
What a sad day, of course it always is when somebody very close to our genre of movies passes. Man I really wish Koji could have got another chance to direct another G flick. G85 was great. R.I.P. Koji Hashimoto, and may you're legacy live on.

Re: Koji Hashioto died today
G84/85 has always been high on my favorites list. I was pleased with the way it returned Godzilla to his roots.
R.I.P. Mr. Hashioto.

I take a moment of silence to this great man. May he rest in piece from the glory of The Return of Godzilla.
