Default Freddy Vs. Jason 2

As reported from About.com, Ash will not be in the new Freddy Vs. Jason film. Stephen Norrington (Blade) will direct the sequel. A script has already been written up and filming is scheduled to begin June 16th of this year with a release date sometime next year.
For me, personally, I am glad to hear he is not in the film.

Interesting. I wonder how they are going to pull it off then? Sure the first film was a moderate success(budget=$30 mil, marketing costs=$25 mil, box office gross $83 mil.) But if they just rehash the old film for the sequel without trying anything different or new then it is almost a guarantee that the sequel will make less money. And also the fight at the end of the first film was priceless, how in the world are they going to top that?

Well I've heard it's still on hold, from Creature Corner, a usually more reliable Horror movie source. But yeah, it's NOT going to have Ash. While I'd love to see the square-jawed, one-line spouting, chainsaw-handed badass again... I'm just gonna have to be content with the current crop of comics out now based on the movies.

Hope this next movie, if it comes out, can match and possibly go beyond the last one.

So there you have it... two differing pieces of news based on the same possible sequel. Take them as you wish.

Last I heard, Tarantino has stated that he won't be doing it. I guess New Line Cinema did talk to him about it, and he would like to direct a horror movie some time, but it won't be a FRIDAY THE 13TH film.

Nope. It's just a fanboy-spread rumor.
Tarantino clearly said in an interview that he was not directing a F13 film.
I don't really care, Micheal Myers and Freddy own him big time. I never liked the Friday 13 series at all.

^Yeah, but last I saw Jason was the one carrying Freddy's head.

It was a fun story while it lasted, would've been intresting to see what Tarintino would've done with project. The man has been wanting to take a dip in the horror end of the pool for awhile. Neat little factoid, the first script he wrote , and got paid for was From Dusk Til Dawn. He quit his day job(video clerk I believe) and went on a trip to Europe where he picked up that whole "Burger Royale " deal that surfaced in warm hearted feel good film of 94', Pulp Fiction. The man came pretty close to Micheal Myers when along with Evil Dead II co-writer, Scott Spiegal, when they collaberated on a script for Hallowen 6. Unfortunatly it absolutly outraged the producer of the series, Moustapha Akkad. For some reason he didn't like the Shape as homelss person in Chicago terrorizing Jamie Lloyd. So I honestly didn't think this would've been a huge leap for him.

Speaking of Freddy, early on in the development phase of Freddy's Dead:The Final Nightmare, one script sent in was by a then unknown filmmaker, who was sleeping on the couch of New Line exec, Micheal De Luca, at the time. Basically the idea he had involved Kruger reduced to such a sorry state of being that kids were coming to him in thier dreams to slap him around. The teenagers turned the whole thing into a video game like expierence, and even started taking taking drugs so that they could dream more frequintly to enter the Dreamworld. Unfortunatly, as they wont to do in horror flick, one of the kids accidently stabs himself on Freddy's trademark claws, dies, Freddy absorbs his soul, regains his power, and is back in business. The story also involved the brother of Donald Thompson(Nancy's father ANOES 1 and 3) in a coma, and thus stuck in the dreamworld trying to save the surviving kids from Freddy. New Line head Bob Shaye thought this wasn't up to snuff(guess this was before he saw the version of the Final Nightmare that got made), and had the script by this rather chubby New Zealander named of Peter Jackson put forever in the New Line film vault never to be seen again.

Don't fret folks, Jason, Freddy, and the new Leatherface will showing off thier collective mugs in AVATAR Press's new line of comic books that showcase the further adventures of our favorite slashers in a few months.

Wow. That was one convulted story idea, totally ruined Ash as a character. Glad it wasn't made. Now, let's bring on JASON vs. FREDDY vs. CANDYMAN!

Yeah, Sammie Boy ditched it in favor of doing a remake of Evil Dead. But seriously, I'm GLAD they didn't make it, or at least that twisted convulted treament of it. Here's hopes for Jason vs. Freddy vs. Candyman.

I think Candyman would be better suited to fighting Pinhead, another hook-wielding, purple-prose-speaking Clive Barker creation!

Also, if Freddy, Jason, & Ash ever do meet up, I have an idea for a sort of "weapon exchange": Fred could use the machete again; Ash could somehow gain a new hand & add The Glove; & Jason could finally play with a chainsaw!

I personely think that Candyman is a good foe for Freddy and Jason, as he could provide us with Freddy's first decent challenger.

The Bay/Ploatnium Dunes flick is more along the lines of Friday The 13th 1.5 SuperXAsh. However, I do think a big part of it does take in modern times , but flashes back on Jason's life.
