House of Flying Daggers
I'm suprised that nobody has started a thread on this movie.
I saw it today and it was excellent, and before anyone asks, yes it is subtitled. The whole movie was pretty impressive from the acting to the fighting to the scenery, a simply beautiful film. The story was also very good and had quite a few twists to keep things going along nicely. If you like films on the order of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon then you really should check this movie out, it's worth seeing.

Re: House of Flying Daggers
I saw this movie a few weeks ago, and I agree, it's simply a beautiful film. I love the way Zhang Yimou integrates color into the fight scenes; it makes for some spectacular visuals. And I was caught off guard by the twists as well, I didn't even see them coming at all. But out of Zhang Yimou's two martial arts films, I'd say that Hero is superior. Still, anyone who enjoyed Hero or Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon will love this movie.

Yeah his use of color is really important in his films IMO. I also enjoyed Hero a bunch as well. I don't know if I could pick which one I like better of the two, they are incredible films. He's a fantastic director, I can't wait to see more of his movies.

Re: House of Flying Daggers
Saw a trailer for it, looks good, but so does Phantom which I might see first, as I don't think my little bro would want to read subs (then again, don't think he would want to see a musical either ).

Re: House of Flying Daggers
last I heard it was only showing in the LA and NYC locations, which is why I gave up hope on it. Is it starting to show in other theatres now?

Re: House of Flying Daggers
well, i liked Hero better than Crouching Tiger. I've been wanting to see this for a LONG time. what i do want to know, though, before i see it is whether or not the main characters die. I loved Hero, but didn't so much like the end. if they die, i just want to know so as to be ready.
other than that, i really want to see it! it looks so cool!
