I remember when I 1st saw this film, & I was actually a little disturbed by the absolutely surreal scene of Guiron hacking Space Gyaos to pieces! I thought these were children's movies!

The scene of the Space Gyaos being hacked to pieces was taken out in some releases because it was deemed too violent for the kid-friendly Gamera movies. It's a shame because it's probably the best part of the movie, IMHO.

If you have cable, the copy that AMC plays includes the Gyaos slaughter. I don't know when AMC plans to air it again, but there you go.

Guiron is a pretty cool beast...wish there had been more of him in it, but this is still one of the better Showa Gamera movies...

This was the only Gamera Showa filim I ever fully finished. Though its mental, its better than Zigra and Barugon. (Though those movies made me fall asleep and I never finished them)

When A.I.P realesed Gamera Vs Guiron they released it as Attack of the Monsters. That version had it cut out because they thought it was 2 violent at the time.

No, they're the same dub. However, the scene was intact in the Sandy Frank VHS of the early 1980's. Currently avaliable on LaserDisc.

Yes it does. AIP's ATTACK OF THE MONSTERS and Sandy Frank's GAMERA VS GUIRON have completely different dubbing. The Sandy Frank dub is absolutely terrible.

A few years back Neptune Media released a gorgeous, uncut widescreen version of the AIP version on VHS under the new title GAMERA VS GUILLON.

I thought the movie was really funny. Like when Gamera did that flip, it look so bad but it was funny as hell. Also when Guiron shot the little star things from the side of his head, and it hit Gamera and he did is little dance. That was funny.

I personally think the Showa Gamera series is very laughable. Although like one member said above, each movie has something to like about it. The kid scenes do get annoying after a while and so does the singing.
Gamera Vs. Guiron wasn't too bad. I felt it was one of the better ones of the Showa series.

I just got the Alpha Video copy and I'm wondering if it was worth $5.99 plus tax.

The only saving grace was the kaiju fights.
