Question What should be kept from Jackson's old script?

Hiya boys and girls--well what few we have.

I was going over info on Kong and saw it said that Jack will have been a World War I fighter pilot in the upcoming movie... just as he was meant to have been in Jackson's nineties script. While Jackson's has said he won't do the old script, there is the chance that some things might survive. What things, if any, would you like to make the transition? (If you've yet to read the old script and would like to do so go http://geocities.com/scifiscripts3/scripts/kingkong.txt )

I'd like to see the more respectful treatment on minorities. (Jackson made a point in describing the Skull Islanders in their first appearence. "No afros and grass skirts")

Jack Driscoll having been a fighter pilot is nice.

The alter for Anne at the Wall is nice (it works like a trolly in that she's placed at ground level and winched up. [It also has giant stone skulls that light up "like Halloween jack-o-lanterns] But that kinda takes away from, Kong tear down the door.)

When Denham finds out that Anne has been kidnapped, he cracks open a crate of tommy guns--30's gangster guns--and says "Carl Denham Productions declares war on Skull Island!"

We actually get to see what kind of movies Denham makes. We're told of them. (Cooper--a tip of the hat to Merian C. Cooper, Kong's creator--was supposed to be Denham's sidekick to have told Anne this. Yet his role has seemingly been taken away by Lumpy the cook.)

One neat thing is the line that Cooper gives in justifying all his crazy adventures with Denham. "Denham says, 'Pain is temporary, film is forever.'" That's neat and I hope that line makes it.

What would you like to see make the transition?

Hopefully, in the final shooting script we'll get to see the canyon sequence as it was written for in the very first flick in which those unlucky S.O.B.s who survived thier fall in to the canyon. Only to be devoured by the GIANT SPIDERS that inhabited the canyon floor. However due to the fact the footage was a bit too grisley to viewers so it was chopped out. The original Jackson script had this scene restored, and I'll hope it will finally show up in the remake.

In reviewing Kong info, I can say that the below might be in the remake. Spoilers ahead, repeat spoilers!

In one scene in the original script, Driscoll and Anne try to escape the escaped Kong in NYC and Driscoll takes a car and drives through Macy's!

In the trivia section for Kong at IMDB, it was said that Brody would do all his own stunt driving. Will we see him steal a car and drive through Macy's? Perhaps.

In the first script, Kong fights three carnosaurs. On Kong is King.net, it was said Kong would face three V-Rexes before a final battle with the top one.

In the 1996 script, it was said that Denham had a sidekick cameraman called Herb. The official site lists a camaraman called Herb.

Cool!

Edit.. where I you see "the below" I originally wrote... the above

I'm certainly hoping the "brontosaur train wreck" scene from the original script is not in the new movie because 1) it sounds ridiculous; more comical than anything else and 2) brontosaurus (or apatosaurus) is my favorite dinosaur, and I really don't care to see all the brontosaurs get killed.

Well shark man, the trailer did show a dinosaur stampede with Brontosaurs...

PS. As Jackson refered to the long neck dinosaur from Kong 1933 as a bronotsaur, its guess its ok to call the sauropod Bronotosaurus instead of Apatosaurus. With all the eons, a new species could evolve and could take the unused name. (Unless of course, Jackson decided to refer to it as somethin else completely !)

Well, it's very clear from the trailers that the creatures we see are brontosaurs, not apatosaurs. They look exactly like what we use to think Brontosaurus/Apatosaurus looked like (you know, the box-shaped heads, the rounder body shape, etc.). This will make me all the more dissapointed if they all die like in the original script.

^ All of which now apply to the genus Camarasaurus. But, for the sake of the movie, we can call them Brontosaurs.
