Despite my affinity for the vicious tooth and claw fight between Goji and Anguirus, I'm gonna have to give it to Monster Zero for being a better film overall.

GRA sucks! With out a doubt, a single doubt, the worst, and most boring of any Showa movie. Possibly my least favorite of them all beyond Spacegodzilla too!

Monster Zero all the way.

As for this, Gigantis sucked, far worse than Monster Zero, but Godzilla Raids Again is a great film, better than MZ

Monster Zero's fun yeah, but most of it is just a rehash of Ghidrah only with aliens being the main part of the plot. The action is very short too. GRA brings the dark presence of the first movie with a great battle that's in a style that hasn't even been attempted since. The characters are realistic too. They might not do outrageous things like in MZ but they're just working class people you can identify with that end up experiencing what happens when Godzilla comes and the aftermath.

GRA captures the dark atmosphere of Gojira but, as many of you know, I love Monster Zero. The characters are very interesting and there is an actual plot to the film. Yeah the kaiju don't show up often, but the human drama is more than enough to satisfy me. And that's saying a lot for a Godzilla movie having a good human story. Monster Zero is it for me.

Both of these films feature two favorites for me. My fav version of Ghidorah and my fav version of Ang, but in the end I just ended up liking MZ better overall.

Here we go again

How is it a good movie? Give me reasons, things against monster zero that aren't just opinions, that you can compair and say "it has better characters, because".

Godzilla Raids Again, is with out a doubt, one of the worst Godzilla movies ever made. I find it sad so few people can acually recongnize that fact as well. Its climax is in the middle of the movie. After the fight with Godzilla and Angilas, there is nothing to make you want to keep watching. Not even an interesting human story line. We get nothing for the characters, hell, this is more and likely the hardest movie to remember who is who, because we never get good deal, or any deal for that matter, of development. Its always, “looking for Godzilla, flying, then the Angilas fight”, after that, we do get the Wedding party crap, but it doesn’t do any good for making us like, or feel emotion for any of the characters. By the time the wedding party is going on in GRA, in the first movie, Gojira, we are witnessing the devastation caused by Godzilla, we get a large amount of drama and human emotion, we get nothing, and feel nothing for anyone in Godzilla Raids Again.

Kobayashi dies, I don’t honestly care. He was an idiot.
Serizawa dies, I care, as not only do we learn to care for our characters by that point in that movie, but Honda actually has a good, great sense of how to direct something emotional. Oda can’t direct worth crap. People always bring up in this excuse for a movie's defense "It has the dark feel of the original!” well I can tell you one major thing as well, it sure doesn't have the damn spirit, and drama as the original.

Monster Zero, because both versions of Gigantis are examples of a poor movie
(the second worst Godzilla movie, in fact.)

Monster Zero is a masterpiece of Godzilla movies.

Godzilla guy, is your avatar just a copy of my old one for a reason?

GRA and Gigantis aren't even that much different. They do have one thing in common, though. They are both horrendously boring.

MZ all the way. I'll take Xilians over fishermen any day.

---EDIT---

Wait a second.
Is there any particular reason as to why were comparing these two random films?

Who wants me to make a new topic "Godzilla vs. Destroyah or Son of Godzilla, which do you prefer." ?

I like Monster Zero more. Gigantis should have been done with a little more care like the first film. Monster Zero has a lot of entertaining shots and a funny plot. I had to vote for Zero. It just makes sense. Sorry Gigantis. It was'nt your fault the american idiots changed your name!

Put me down for "GODZILLA RAIDS AGAIN". MZ sucked, poor acting, poor effects, bad plot, bad effects (even for its time), and just poorly done.

GRA is boring. Monster Zero however is a classic and has memorable characters in addition to the monster fights.

I don't see how anyone could call GRA boring. It has easily the best or one of the best purely physical fights to ever be seen in a Kaiju film, and some really entertaining, original well-executed military scenes, far better than the ones in Gojira.

As to why the movie really is good, if I feel like wasting twenty minutes typing it I'll do it tomorrow maybe

That's a thoughy! Godzilla Raids Again was my first G-film, and one of the first I ever saw and thus holds a very special place in my heart, and I love it as a film in general. However, Invasion of Astot-Monster is a great epic film which stars my two favorite kaiju of all time and my favorite aliens, and is likely an overall better movie....

In the end I voted for MZ, though I think for real it's a tie....

I hate when kaiju fans judge a kaiju film for its effects, I think people are always comparing them to newer films which doesn't seem right

Wha?

Hell, movies like King Kong and Gojira still own most modern FX films.

'Invasion of the Astro-Monster,' seemed to be a little dull to me, since Ghidorah, the Three Headed monster was such a better Ghidorah film. It really seemed a rehash of Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster with aliens thrown into the mix.

'Godzilla Raids Again,' now, has so much more going for, the return of Godzilla and the very first kaiju battle.

Both are great, but GRA is just a little more so.
