Character Inspirations

[Neo-Crucifer]

The purpose of this thread is simple; what inspired your characters (hence the topic title...)?


For example, a few things inspired Necrotik. I had been planning to join RV for awhile, and many ideas for an alter-ego circled through my brain. One night, I opened Wordpad, put down the profile format and typed up a character known as Crucifer. From what I remember of the details, he was formerely a scientist who was mutated by injecting kaiju cells into himself, and he could do things like shapeshift into the Primal Rage kaiju (a power later considered, and dropped, for Necrotik) and fly. I had planned him to be a recurring villain, especially in the then-new LEGEND OF ROOSTVILLE. But then I started discussing Roostville with BD (then Afiag, Angel of Darkness) through PMs. Eventually, he offered to stick my name onto one of his characters. I asked to be made a villain, and he made a prototype Neo-Crucifer.

A few months later, I thought about a new character to use for Roostville, since William D. Fix was more of an "Average Joe" and had no powers of his own. Now, EV and I had been exchanging ideas for RVTS, and one day he PMed me, in need of a name for the demonic Jimifluss. First, I suggested Belial, a fairly well-known demon name. Then the name Necrotik popped out of my mind. I PMed the Emperor, but it was too late, and the name Belial had already been put down and established as the demon Jimi. I figured not to let a good name go to waste, already modelling a new char on the shapeshifting Battrarules (which was why I gave the two a connection later), and I combined it with the old Crucifer character. That done, I tweaked the profile a bit (removing the power to turn into ALL Primal Rage kaiju, for one thing) and soon posted it on the Roost. Necrotik was born...

I have been contacted by EV for my talent in inventing names. In the chatroom, he told me that he needed a moniker for the merged form of the Guardians. I Googled a few "good" sounding words, one of them valor. On Dictionary.com, I found that one of the synonyms was Valorous (I think it's the adjective form of valor, but I don't remember). Perfect, I thought (well, not really, but bear with me here)! I gave EV the name, and he did the rest.


Oh yeah, I named the Pyramid Gallery after an occult-type store from one of the HELLRAISER movies.

[Kaiser Kronos]

Battrarules was inspired by a need to create a demon-like character to enhance the darkness of my Freddy vs. Jason project. I came up with the idea of a shapeshifter, because that once was my fantasy. I admit, he hasn't shapeshifted too much, but that will be addressed. Battrarules was originally called Friedrich and was a rather Cenobitish character, in that he took pleasure in pain and torment. This naturally progressed to the idea that if he could become a series of fire demons, armored beings, and creatures with organic chainsaws, what would happen when he began to combine forms? Thus was born Gamyaris, or Balphom, as he was originally called.

He was the darkest character my mind had ever come up with. His inspiration came from the Wolf Man, Frankenstein, and other monster movies. The monster was designed, now to give him a name. My favorite passage in the Bible was the Gerasene Demoniac passage, which led to the creation of Legion.

After that it was only a few short steps to creating the monster Battrarules, by altering his forms somewhat.

[Kiryu goji]

Kiryu goji is at heart, the fun-loving, prank pulling little kid that I was, and sometimes wish I still were (though I am at some times). Some of his pranks are actual ones that I have used over the years. He's the charachter that I've allways liked growing up.

well, I like pears, and I like monsters... so that makes me a monster pear... i guess... when I get involved with roostville (in the next week, maybe), i plan to be the entertainer in the city. i all ready posted somethin on another thing called "coming to roostville", you guys could check that out if you want more info...
