A perfect companion to any monster movie fan's collection, 'All Monsters Attack!' is not a film in itself, but a collection of over 50 vintage monster movie trailers and special featurettes. Given the lack of extras on many monster movie DVDs, for fans of old time movie trailers, this disc helps redress this failing.

For kaiju fans, there is a large number of pertinent trailers. The original Godzilla, King of the Monsters is represented with a preview so old, the Big G's distinctive roar isn't even featured, replaced by a weird whiney sound. There are also trailers for Rodan, Varan the Unbelievable, Mothra, Mothra the Monster -god (an early pre-release trailer that employs b&w concept drawings rather than actual film footage), King Kong vs Godzilla, Godzilla vs the Thing, Gammera the Invincible, Ghidrah the Three-headed Monster, Atragon, King Kong Escapes, Destroy all Monsters, Godzilla vs the Smog Monster, Yog Monster from Space, and The Mysterians. With the lack of kaiju related trailers on most every licensed film release, these vintage coming attractions are highly welcome.

The full list of trailers includes many 1950's monster on the loose films. The Blob, Caltiki the Immortal Monster, It Conquered the World, King Kong, and even War of the Colossal Beast all feature on this jam-packed DVD. The Featurettes include the making of The Land that Time Forgot and The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (the same 'This is Dynamation' featurette included on the 7th Voyage of Sinbad DVD) as well as a vintage atomic weapon test program.

As a fan of these films, I found this disc to be a real trip back into the days when monsters ruled drive-ins and late-night TV was the domain of giant lizards and alien horrors rather than infomercials. Certainly a novel piece to be included in the collection of any completist. The only drawback is that despite the rather familiar looking fellow on the cover art, War of the Gargantuas is not one of the featured trailers.
