An adaptation of the movie. In case you haven’t seen it, here’s a short summary from A Pictorial History of Science Fiction Films by Jeff Rovin. (Citadel Press, Secaucus, NJ, 1975) "Underwater volcanic activity awakens an ages-old monster from hibernation. Two down-and-out seamen capture the beast and, on their freighter, transport Gorgo to London, where the creature is put on exhibit in a circus. Things go well for the entrepreneurs until the monster’s mother- four times the size of her gargantuan infant-decimates London in search of her imprisoned child. Reunited, the two return to the sea, leaving mankind a bit dazed but wiser for the experience."

(Note; Gorgo was originally called Ogra by the people of Nara Island, where he first showed up in the modern world. The London circus owner, Dorkin, changed the creature’s name. In the comic books, the cub is referred to as Gorgo, while the adult is simply called Gorgo’s mother. I prefer the approach of calling the mother Ogra.)
