Godzilla wanders the wilderness of Northern California, observed by Gabe Jones from a helicopter. The monster finds an enormous cave and settles in the cavern for some sleep. Elsewhere, Dugan watches as the new SHIELD helicarrier is unveiled, the 'Behemoth', which is especially designed to combat Godzilla. Crack pilot Hugh Howards relishes the chance to pilot the massive airship. Back in Detroit, Jimmy Woo and Tamara enjoy a moment alone and Dr. Takiguchi's weapon is revealed to be a giant robot. The Behemoth arrives outside Godzilla's cave and SHIELD begins their operation. Dugan's plan is to seal the cave and bury Godzilla but Jones convinces him to try to capture Godzilla instead, using sleeping gas to subdue the monster. The Godzilla Squad fills the cave with gas, but the only immediate effect is to draw Godzilla out of the cave. Soon after, however, the giant reptile topples, unconscious. The Behemoth's massive hangar is opened and Godzilla's slumbering body is laboriously loaded inside. They fly Godzilla to a SHIELD base in San Diego where a containment facility has just been built to house Godzilla. Meanwhile, back at Stark International, Rob Takiguchi sneaks into the completed robot's cockpit. He puts on the interface helmet and a backlash of electricity shocks him into unconsciousness. Godzilla awakens in his prison. A blast of atomic fire melts his cage and the giant monster is free again.
