At the SHIELD base in San Diego, Godzilla goes berserk, crushing the weapons sent against him. Dum-dum Dugan and Gabe Jones watch helplessly as Godzilla destroys the base. A wounded officer stumbles over to them and tells Dugan that the situation is even worse, at the far end of the base is one of the largest secret missile installations in the United States. If Godzilla destroys them, he will irradiate southern California. Even worse, Godzilla could accidentally cause the missiles to misfire, causing World War III! Dugan hurries to the Behemoth, telling Gabe to get in touch with Jimmy Woo at Stark International.

In Detroit, Jimmy Woo bemoans rushing things with Tamara. He finds her and starts to apologize when there is a tremendous crash outside. The giant robot is walking across the facility, crushing everything in its path. In the cockpit, Rob Takiguchi is unconscious, his brain waves causing the robot to literally sleep walk. Jimmy Woo uses one of Stark's security autogyros to reach the robot's head and enter the cockpit. Jimmy manages to stop the robot just before it can reach Stark International's considerable fuel depot. Jimmy removes the groggy Rob, the boy mumbling that he was trying to save Godzilla. Dr. Takiguchi arrives and tells Jimmy Woo that Dugan needs the robot right away. Against Tamara's wishes, Jimmy reenters the robot, hoping to pilot the untested weapon to San Diego.

Back at the SHIELD base, the Behemoth enters the struggle against Godzilla, managing to hold its own. Dr. Takiguchi tries to coach Jimmy Woo through initiating the robot's controls, but the machine remains unresponsive. Reluctantly, it is decided to return it to its hangar and do a full diagnostic on it. Again, Rob Takiguchi slips away and steals into the robot's head. While Dr. Takiguchi and Jimmy Woo discuss the possibility that the robot has been imprinted with Rob's brain waves, the boy proves the theory by flying the robot from its hangar. Rob christens the robot Red Ronin and speeds across the country, intent on San Diego and Godzilla.

Meanwhile, Godzilla stalks away from the Behemoth and toward the nukes. Before he can reach them, however, Red Ronin arrives, using its thrusters to push Godzilla away from the missiles. As the smoke clears, Red Ronin stands between Godzilla and enough nuclear missiles to start WWIII.
