Red Ronin stands before Godzilla with a field of nuclear missiles at the robot's back. While Dum-dum Dugan and Gabe Jones watch from the hovering Behemoth and wonder who is piloting the robot, Rob Takiguchi agonizes over how to drive Godzilla away from the base without hurting the monster. Accidentally igniting Red Ronin's laser blade causes Godzilla to blast the robot with atomic fire. Rob still refuses to use the searing blade on Godzilla, even as the reptile continues to blast Red Ronin. Finally, Rob concentrates, forcing the blade's intensity to lessen. When the blade is low enough, Red Ronin strikes, stunning Godzilla. At this point, the news reaches Dum-dum Dugan that Rob is piloting the robot. Fearing for the boy's safety, Dugan orders the Behemoth to interpose itself between robot and monster. Thinking the Behemoth intends to attack Godzilla, Rob lashes out at the helicarrier with Red Ronin's laser-blade, knocking out the airship's weapons systems. Red Ronin takes to the sky again, lowering magneclamp-cables to ensnare the still-stunned Godzilla. Carrying the monster, Red Ronin flies away, Dugan ordering the Behemoth to pursue. Rob tries to take Godzilla out to sea, but the monster comes out of his stupor and struggles against the cables, melting them with his atomic breath. Both robot and monster fall from the sky. Godzilla crashes into San Diego harbor while Red Ronin makes a last-second landing on the decks of a pair of destroyers in the San Diego naval yard. Godzilla soon rises to the surface and pursues his battle with Red Ronin. The two monsters struggle, Godzilla employing his fiery breath and massive tail, while Red Ronin uses its discuss-like shield and laser cannon left-hand to drive the monster back. The fight moves into San Diego itself when the Behemoth arrives. Godzilla stands defiant, ready to face both enemies. He is surprised when Red Ronin turns on the Behemoth. Rob fires Red Ronin's laser cannon, again crippling the helicarrier. Rob then wills Red Ronin to point away from the city, desperately hoping Godzilla will understand. Godzilla hesitates for a moment and then heads away from San Diego, leaving a furious Dugan and a beaming Rob Takiguchi behind.
