Godzilla roams through the White Mountains, attacking a railway car. At the
Grand Canyon, Dum-dum Dugan and Gabe Jones complete their rescue operation and head
off to see if they can find Rob Takiguchi and Red Ronin. Elsewhere, mysterious beings
observe a recording of the battle between Godzilla and Yetrigar, deciding that they have
use of the victor of the battle. A rift opens in the valley Godzilla is lumbering through,
sucking the reptile into it. Godzilla travels through a bend in time, finding himself on
the surface of the moon, an atmospheric bubble preserving him. No sooner has he arrived,
then a loathsome alien monster emerges from a nearby crater - the Beta-Beast. The alien
monster wastes no time, but attacks Godzilla with its enormous mass, fiery breath and
missile-like thorns. The Beta-Beast appears to be the stronger, wounding Godzilla with
its quills. But the pain only enrages Godzilla and he attacks with his own fiery breath,
driving the Beta-Beast back until the alien lies vanquished at his feet. As soon as the
Beta-Beast is defeated, a strange domed city rises from one of the moon's craters. Godzilla
advances but is frozen by the alien inhabitants before he can attack. Through telepathy,
the aliens, called Betans, tell Godzilla of the long war between the planets Beta and
Megan, both sides employing war-monsters in their struggle. The Betans are on the verge
of defeat, but the Megans do not know this and are coming to conquer the Earth and
plunder its resources to aid its war effort. The Megans' three most powerful monsters
will soon arrive on Earth, the Mega-Monsters. The Betans established their moon-base to
try and prevent the conflict and find a defender for Earth. By defeating the Beta-Beast,
the Betans' most powerful monster, Godzilla has shown that he has a chance against the
Megan monsters. News reaches the Betan commander that the Mega-Monsters are in orbit over
the Earth. Quickly, the alien transports Godzilla into another time-space rift. Meanwhile,
Red Ronin is knocked from the sky by a grotesque monster. A telepathic voice informs
Rob that he will soon die, slain by the first of the Mega-Monsters, Triax. Before Triax
can attack, however, Godzilla appears as if out of thin air. But Rob wonders whose side
Godzilla is on.
