Godzilla stumbles upon the skeletal remains of several dozen head of cattle. As the monster examines the remains, two cowpokes sight him. Lefty and Hal ride for their lives, intending to tell their boss that a giant lizard is eating his cattle. Godzilla does not pursue, but settles down and goes to sleep. Back in Salt Lake City, Dum-dum Dugan and Gabe Jones prepare to return to the Behemoth and see if it has been repaired yet. Dugan also says that he will make arrangements for Red Ronin to be removed and taken back to Stark International to be repaired. Jimmy Woo and Tamara take charge of the revived Rob Takiguchi. At the ranch of John Hawks, Lefty and Hal report Godzilla's presence on the range. Hawks decides to tell the other ranchers and try and arrange to bring down the monster themselves. He tells Hal to get all of the hands together and watch the herd through the night. The night passes quietly, until the cowboys discover the herd beginning to stampede. Elsewhere, at the ranch of Bill Ford, Lefty shows his true colors. He is in league with Bill Ford, rustling cattle from the other ranches. Lefty has decided that they can use Godzilla to cover their crimes. Ford warns the treacherous cowpoke to keep the 'lizard roundup' away from the box canyon where the stolen cattle have been herded. Back on Hawk's ranch, the cowboys discover that Godzilla is behind the stampede, having awoken and frightened the cattle. Godzilla mistakes the stampede as an attack and pursues the cattle, chasing them towards the river. Two of the cowboys manage to tie a charge of dynamite to Godzilla's tail. The explosion makes Godzilla stop and chase after the two cowboys, leaving the rest of the ranchlands to turn the herd away from the river. Godzilla pursues the pair, right to the ranch house of John Hawks. Just as the men dismount and flee into the supposed safety of the building, Godzilla proceeds to smash the ranch house into kindling.
