Godzilla faces Rob Takiguchi on the streets of Manhattan, having grown as large as the boy. It quickly becomes apparent that Godzilla regards the boy in a friendly manner. Godzilla begins to follow the boy back to the Behemoth when they startle a wino sitting on the curb. The drunkard runs away screaming, calling for the police. Godzilla and Rob duck into an alley, but are quickly discovered by mounted police. Godzilla blasts the wooden wall at the rear of the alley with his breath and the pair makes good their escape. Meanwhile, the searchers of the Godzilla Squad decide that it will be useless to search for the monster in the dark and decide to return to the helicarrier. As darkness falls, two street thugs decide to accost a pair of late night pedestrians. The mugging is soon thwarted when one of the victims sheds the old hat and coat placed on him by Rob and reveals the four-foot tall Godzilla. Godzilla scorches the two muggers and sends them fleeing into the night. Back at the Behemoth, Dum-dum Dugan briefs the other Godzilla Squad members about the gravity of the situation. Suddenly, Tamara spots two figures advancing toward them across the dock. One of the figures resembles Rob Takiguchi. Dugan's anger boils over when he recognizes the boy, furious that he is not on the Behemoth with Howards. Dr. Gladstone Hawkins points out a fact that Dugan has missed, there is someone with Rob. Another sudden spurt of growth causes Godzilla to again shed his coat and hat, this time reaching a height of seven feet. Dugan and Gabe Jones try to subdue the monster, but Godzilla quickly shakes them off. Dugan takes aim with a gun while Godzilla chases after Dr. Takiguchi. Thinking Dugan means to kill Godzilla, Gabe spoils the shot, causing Dugan to waste the tranquilizer dart. Godzilla turns on the two SHIELD agents, tossing them into a pile of trash. Dugan returns to the fray, this time arming himself with a trash-can lid and a boat hook. Godzilla soon disarms the man and Gabe Jones is again forced to assist his commander. Godzilla throws Jones off the pier into the river and knocks Dugan to the ground with a tight-fisted punch. The rest of the Godzilla Squad stand silent as Godzilla lumbers away, heading back into New York City. Dugan jokes about the giant reptile besting them, but Rob reminds him that now Godzilla is large enough for everyone in New York to notice him.
