Godzilla topples into the tanks of sharks, the ferocious fish immediately attacking
him from all sides. The Thing leaps into the tank after the twenty-foot tall reptile.
Delivering a powerful haymaker, the Thing punches Godzilla out of the tank. While
Godzilla lies on the floor of the museum, stunned, Mr. Fantastic expands his body into
a blanket-like shape and smothers Godzilla into unconsciousness. The sharks are unable
to bite through the Thing's rocky skin and the hero soon extracts himself from the
aquarium. With Godzilla subdued, Dr. Takiguchi poses the problem of what to do with him
now. Godzilla will soon grow again and the museum will not be a safe place to keep him.
Mr. Fantastic says that he has the answer at the Baxter Building. Dugan agrees to give
Reed Richards' plan a try and the SHIELD agents and Fantastic Four are soon aboard the
Fantasticar, Godzilla slung beneath the flying vehicle. In the Baxter Building, Reed
Richards reveals his scheme. The Fantastic Four possesses the captured time machine of
the supervillain Dr. Doom. Richards proposes to use the time machine to send Godzilla
back to the Mesozoic era. Even Dum-dum Dugan is forced to admit that Mr. Fantastic's
idea is a good one, ridding mankind of Godzilla without killing the monster and allowing
Godzilla a life free of mankind's harassment. Richards engages Dr. Doom's machine and
Godzilla disappears in a blaze of brilliant light. As the SHIELD Godzilla Squad departs,
Richards ponders what will become of Godzilla.
Godzilla awakens in a lush, fertile plain. The monster takes in his surroundings,
dimly familiar with them, remembering them from long ago. Godzilla decides that he likes
his new home and climbs the ridge which forms the valley's boundary. Far below, a line
of cavemen and their domesticated dinosaur war beasts march toward the valley. Seeing
them, Godzilla roars his disapproval. The leader of the Lizard-Warriors sees Godzilla
standing on the ridge and decides that the monster will make good eating for his army.
The Lizard-Warriors unleash a pair of fast-moving carnosaurs, the Chargers, and send
them after Godzilla. The Chargers rush into Godzilla, knocking all three reptiles back
down the ridge and into the valley. Godzilla and the Chargers battle when they strike
the valley floor, the sounds of the conflict carrying across the lush plains. The apelike
dawn man Moon-boy and his companion, the enormous red-skinned tyrannosaurus Devil Dinosaur
are drawn to the sounds of violence. From cover, they see Godzilla fight the Chargers.
They watch as Godzilla uses his atomic breath to best the dinosaurs. Thinking Godzilla
to be some sort of demon, Moon-boy tells Devil Dinosaur to attack the victorious Godzilla.
Devil Dinosaur's assault is swift and brutal, the red dinosaur finally pushing Godzilla
into a lake and holding the monster beneath the water. The amphibious Godzilla waits until
Devil Dinosaur's grip relaxes and then bursts from the water. The battle now turns in
Godzilla's favor and Moon-boy fears that his friend may have finally met a more powerful
foe. The dawn man scrambles up the ridge, hoping to dislodge a huge boulder to smash
Godzilla before he can kill Devil Dinosaur. Before he can set the boulder in motion,
however, Moon-boy sees the assembled army of the Lizard-warriors. Realizing his mistake,
Moon-boy races back into the valley and interrupts the struggle between Godzilla and
Devil Dinosaur. Devil Dinosaur immediately obeys Moon-boy's command to stop fighting.
Godzilla hesitates but at last imagines a similarity between Moon-boy and Rob Takiguchi.
Moon-boy convinces Godzilla to trust him. Just as the two reptiles come to an alliance,
the assembled hordes of the Lizard-warriors descend into the Valley of Fire. Moon-boy
expresses doubt if even with Godzilla's help, they can defeat so many enemies.
