Godzilla and Devil Dinosaur engage the army of the Lizard-warriors and their dinosaur beasts of war in furious battle. Moon Boy soon realizes that despite the awesome strength of Devil Dinosaur and their new ally, the Lizard-warriors are too many. The Lizard-warriors realize the same fact and begin to surround their enemies. Back in the 20th century, Dum-dum Dugan and the other SHIELD agents prepare to leave, their mission accomplished. Somehow, all the agents are sorry to see their mission end. Tamara and Jimmy Woo exchange an affectionate farewell, the woman intending to return with Dr. Takiguchi to Japan. Dr. Takiguchi and Dr. Hawkins indulge in a final scientific debate when Rob Takiguchi interrupts them, having learned of Godzilla's fate. The boy's innocent philosophy raises doubt on the properness of their actions in the minds of the two scientists. Back in the Valley of Fire, Godzilla and Devil Dinosaur continue to battle the Lizard-warriors. Moon Boy realizes that they cannot win and urges the two reptiles to retreat to an area known as the Pits. Reluctantly, Godzilla follows his new allies. In the Baxter Building, the Thing becomes aware of a strange humming sound.

While Devil Dinosaur and Godzilla stop to delay the pursuing Lizard-warriors, Moon Boy scrambles to meet with the sinister Hag who rules the region of the Pits. Moon Boy tells her that they will conceal the strange pits, eerie holes in time and space, to hide the pits from the eyes of the Lizard-warriors. Back in the baxter Building, Reed Richards and the Thing investigate the sound and discover that Dr. Doom's time machine is the source of the sound, the machine having absorbed some of Godzilla's radiation. Mr. Fantastic realizes that the machine is now unstable, possibly getting ready to explode or even slingshot Godzilla back into the 20th century. He sends the Human Torch to evacuate Times Square, where Richards hopes the time machine will be able to explode with minimal effect. Meanwhile, the Behemoth lifts away from the Hudson River.

Back in the Valley of Fire, Godzilla and Devil Dinosaur retreat once more from the Lizard-warriors, drawing them after them. At the Pits, Godzilla and Devil Dinosaur leap over Moon Boy's hasty camouflage. The Lizard-warriors do not, man and dinosaur falling into the depressions and the vortexes contained within them. Suddenly, the swirling energy rises from one of the pits, reaching out for Godzilla. At the same time, the lingering effects of Henry Pym's shrinking gas wears off and Godzilla shoots up to his normal titanic height. Back in New York, the Human Torch has succeeded in clearing Times Square. Reed Richards grabs the glowing time machine and with his amazing elastic arms places the device in the center of Times Square. In the Valley of Fire, Godzilla begins to fade. To Moon Boy and the Hag, it seems that whatever good spirits sent the monster to defend the valley have reclaimed him. As the Behemoth hovers in view of the commotion in Times Square, Dr. Doom's time machine releases a powerful column of energy. In an instant, Godzilla appears, once more standing on the streets of New York, this time at his tremendous true size.
