Stats for Gigan

Height: 65 meters

Mass: 25,000 metric tons

Debut Film: Godzilla on Monster Island

Other Film Appearances: Godzilla vs. Megalon. Also appeared on the television series Zone Fighter.

Powers: The cyborg creation of an alien civilization, Gigan is designed for close-combat. Gigan's claws are huge metal hooks, capable of battering and ripping the toughest foe. Set in Gigan's abdomen is a whirring cutter-saw, a terrible attack able to slice through even Godzilla's scaly hide. Gigan is also able to fly at speeds of Mach 3 and can travel even faster through the vacuum of outer space in a gem-like form.

As part of the cockroach aliens of Nebula M Spacehunter's plan to conquer the Earth, the space monsters Gigan and King Ghidorah were sent to attack Tokyo. The space monsters faithfully lured the city's defenders, Godzilla and Anguirus, to the aliens' base at Children's Land, and the devastating battery of laser weapons hidden within the Godzilla Tower. The plot nearly succeeded in killing Godzilla, only the destruction of the Godzilla Tower and the controlling aliens by human forces saved the monster from destruction. No longer guided by the aliens, Gigan and King Ghidorah displayed a much reduced ability to co-operate. The monsters soon were squabbling with one another, giving Godzilla time to recover and, with the aid of Anguirus, send both space monsters packing.

Gigan next appeared in answer to the appeal of the Seatopians to the Nebula M aliens. Gigan helped the Seatopian monster Megalon in his battle with Godzilla and Jet Jaguar, but, again, displayed a poor ability to co-ordinate with his ally. Again, Gigan was soundly beaten by the defenders of Earth and sent back into the void. A much weakened Gigan was later used by the evil Garoga aliens to attack Earth. So reduced in power was the cyborg that he could no longer fly, rather he was parachuted down to the ground. Godzilla appeared and quickly beat the cyborg, leaving him for dead. Gigan revived, but was then confronted by Zone Fighter. The superhero employed his devastating monster missiles to defeat Gigan after a fierce battle. Foam bubbling from his beak, the cyborg monster exploded, ending his reign or terror for good.

Combat Style:

Gigan is a straight-forward bruiser, favoring fly-by attacks where he will strike an enemy with his whirring cutter saw. The monster displays a decidedly sadistic streak, laughing and reveling in the suffering of his enemies. Gigan seems unable to properly co-ordinate with his allies and shows no great concern about leaving them on their own if a battle turns against them.
