• News - G-Fest '99 hooks big name guests, among them the creator of Famous Monsters of Filmland Forrest J. Ackerman, Robert Scott Field (M-11 in Godzilla vs King Ghidora), Hiroshi Kashiwabara (screenwriter for Godzilla vs Space Godzilla and Godzilla 2000) and Patrick Tatopoulos, designer of the monster in TriStar's Godzilla. Steve Ryfle's book finally ships after numerous legal delays. Details leak out about Toho continuing the Godzilla series with a film slated for December 1999 titled Godzilla 2000 and possibly involving elements taken from The Mysterians. Marc Cerasini's final Godzilla novel has been put on hold by Random House pending anticipation of a 'Godzilla 2' from TriStar, although the author says that the novel, Godzilla and the Lost Continent, is finished and ready to go. Yamato Takeru, Toho's fantasy epic is being released to US video as Orochi the Eight-Headed Dragon by ADV. Filming on Gamera 3 wraps up, pending a March release in Japan.

• Strange things happen under Polar Lights - by Stan G. Hyde - A new Godzilla from the TriStar sculpted by the model company is slated for a May release while the reissue of the classic Aurora Godzilla kit has been delayed.

• Book reviews - Monsters are Attacking Tokyo by Stuart Galbraith IV, reviewed by K. S. Zechin. Godzilla Il Re Dei Mostri by A. Corradi and M. Ercole, an Italian Godzilla book recapping the monster's film career. Monster aus Japan by Jorg Buttergeist and company is a German study of all the Japanese kaiju films, including Gamera, Guilala and Gappa.
