A special Pit of Filth 'Worst Kaiju DVD Release To Date' award goes to Cine Vu's miserable 'Ghidra the Three Headed Monster'. Where to begin? Firstly, just take a gander at the cover-art, which makes even the Passion Productions' artwork for 'Godzilla vs Megalon' look classy by comparison. The back text is rife with spelling errors - just have a look:

'Watch thousands of Japanese flee as atomic Supermonster Ghidra incinerates the urban landscape. Who can stop the scorching destruction and save the people? Only GODZILLA, the fire breathing, skyscraper sized reptile; MOTHRA, the B52 scaled moth; and RODAN, the mega-petrodactyl. This incredible monster battle leaves buildings flattened and the earth burned beyond recognition as Ghridra the Three Headed Monster attacks!!!'

The DVD itself is not even a manufactured one, but a DVD-R, the type of disc that can be created by home DVD recorders and favoured by bootleggers when making their unauthorized copies of films. Far from the bold 'widescreen' claims on the cover, the film is in fact full frame, and sporting the most miserable print quality I have ever seen for this film with a great deal of dirt and faded colours making the picture quite unwatchable. Extras? On this thing? You gotta be kidding! Chapter stops, if you can call them that, is the only thing you get in this quick 'fleece the consumer' job.

Everything is atrocious and amateurish in this release, even the hideous cover is not professionally cut, looking as though it was run off at a Kinko's and cut out with a pair of dull scissors. It is beyond belief that a reputable company like Amazon.com would sell an abomination like this, and with a $19.99 price tag to boot! $5 would be too much for this piece of filth, $20 is simply criminal.

An upcoming release of 'Godzilla vs. Mothra' by this same company promises to be equally as bad.

Cine Vu, remember the name and avoid it as though it were the plague. We all want to upgrade to DVD, but releases like this are not the way to do it.
