Gamera vs. Garasharp The unused plot for Daiei's 'Gamera vs. Garasharp' Story:
When the huge, serpent-like monster Garasharp attacks the cities of Japan, Gamera soon arrives to
end the beast's reign of terror. Despite Garasharp's awesome array of weapons, including a poisonous
breath and a sonic rattle, Gamera gains the upper hand, blasting the foul monster's head from its body.
Squirming out of the carcass are two baby Garasharp serpents. The JSDF moves in to exterminate the small
monsters. Before they can do so, however, Gamera intervenes. Landing near the baby monsters, Gamera
allows them to slither onto his back. Flying away so that the military cannot harm the tiny Garasharp
serpents, Gamera takes them to a deserted tropical island, leaving the monster on their new home where
they won't do anyone any harm and proving that Gamera truly is the friend of all children, not just
human ones.
History:
In 1971, Daei began plans for a new Gamera film. Scheduled for a 1972 release, 'Gamera vs. Garasharp' was destined to never be made. Plagued by financial woes, Daei entered bankruptcy in 1971. It should be noted that the original idea for Garasharp was to have it as a two-headed monster, possibly as a way to give Gamera his own King Ghidorah, and to capitalize on King Ghidorah's popularity.
